Reviews, what to do?

Post by Roriann-book-worm »

How do I go about writing them? I haven't gotten my first book on here yet so do I just want to write some on books I've already read? Will it raise my score if I start writing reviews like that?

Check out the Private Review a team forum ad look through some of the reviews there and go through the different genre forums also. That's what I did when I first joined and it helped. Yup can write reviews on books you have already read but make sure to post them in the correct genre forum and it will help raise your post count.

Okie dokie, I'll look into that. And do the reviews on the books I've read have to follow the review rules to get credit?

In addition to what Trisha has said, you can also participate more in the community and write some reviews to increase your post count. You won't get credit on those reviews, but they will show your writing skills. Also it is a way to practice your writing. Good luck! :)

Go ahead! :-)

Rule of thumb--take notes as you read, and what helped me was to add a 'criteria' for judgment before reading, to be able to identify more specifically what I liked and did not like about the book. :-)

Good luck, and look forward to reading your upcoming reviews!

I agree. I would love to increase my reviewer score as well. Your reviewer score determines what books you'll get to review as well as whether you get paid or not.

I've found, too, that sometimes it helps to wait a day or so after finishing reading a book before writing the review. Not always, and I don't suggest waiting too long -- as the instructions say, it's best to write the review soon after finishing a book while it's still fresh in your mind. But there have been times that I needed a little time to let the book as a whole sink in before writing the review, especially when the ending wasn't what I expected or what I hoped for. I've found that in cases like that, if I write the review too soon, sometimes later I have second thoughts about it. I also agree that taking lots of notes is really helpful.
