Season Finale of How I Met Your Mother

Was it poetic? Artistic? Completely Frustrating?

On the one hand, it does seem to have an 'artistic' value to it, and make sense as to why so much of the story line was focused on Ted/Robin, but on the other hand, there weren't enough clues for us to 'play along and guess', and so it feels like while we were supposed to be going in one direction, the writers threw a curve ball just for the sake of a 'surprise' ending.
I hope the alternate DVD ending is good as well.

To me it was all wrong. It's true that they always emphasized the relationship between Ted and Robin, but part of that was how wrong they were for each other, not wanting the same things (plus, she never really seemed that into him). I was a big fan of the Barney/Robin duo, too, so I was doubly bummed out. I'll have to watch it at some point, but I'm glad I already know what happened. I would have been even more mad if I were to watch it without knowing!
Oh well. It was still an awesome show!

For most of the last two seasons, I lost interest in the characters, because I really felt they weren't 'growing' and the jokes started to get repetitive and boring.
But I was invested (at least a little) in the final story arc, and I though I can understand why they did it (to come full circle) it seemed like they just ended up jerking around the audience.
