Music for Pain Relief??

Post by realistic »

Respected Members,

Last Sunday, One of mine health adviser friend shared with me about Music’s Importance for many types of Pain related to our Body. That was really amazing and also strange for me.

I am quite wondering that can music relieve pain.

Share your experience here.

Thank You Very Much

Music can take you to a completely different world, so it doesnt surprise me it is now being passed along a "pain relief". When i was a kid, i used to get terrible migraines and couple with my insomnia it was unbearable... especially for a ten year old!

my mum used to put on a record...anything would work...and tell me to shut my eyes and just listen to the music, see whatever it is that the music pulls my mind to. after awhile i would just relax, concentrate on the music and i would see amazing things, sometimes as simple as swirling smoke and sometimes whole events pass before my eyes until i would drift off to sleep. maybe it was just a child's imagination, but it really worked!

and even though this isnt exactly "physical" pain, i certainly felt a great deal of depression as a teenager and tori amos is the only thing that got me through that.

I agree with the idea that music can relief pain. It depends on the music. It's better to listen to the classical music and not to rock-and-roll or rap.

Well, I would say it doesn't work in each case, I have some health problems, so unfortunately at times I experience terrible pain, and trust me, no music can help here

I agree as I suffer from pain due to injuries from the military and all the music in the world does not help, times VICODIN and/or Morphine does not even help. :(

yes guys, music can actually help manage your pain. I'm a nurse and i usually advise this to patients with chronic pain. but make sure that the music isn't too loud, should be soft and slow. but it would always depend on the patient. because usually, what happens is that you focus your attention to the music rather than the pain you're feeling. Of course, this goes with deep breathing and other relaxation techniques. Hope that helps. :)
