Which is better: movie based on book or book itself?

I think that most movies based on books, the books tend to be better. The only exception that I have personally noted was "Interview with the Vampire". The book was kind of slow going (I still love Anne Rice though). Besides looking at Brad Pitt with that long hair wasn't all that bad either! :wink:
