The internet doesn't love me the way that I love her!

I don't watch tv, so I've found the Internet important to see what's going on in the world. I try to find unbiased paves to get information. This is harder than one might think. Seems everyone has an agenda. I also use it alot to keep up on my field of work.

I get a little panicky when the internet goes down in my house. A lot of stuff I do during the day is online. My brother and I joked that if we could not find wifi we would resort to dial up because we are so addicted to the internet.

LOL I think it's more like an addiction :P I mean OMG what will I do if I cannot update the world about what book I am currently reading or see my H.S. acquaintances 1000 picture of their tiny new baby?

Tell me about it! I seriously can't get by without internet. On top of those things, I use it as a resource. Like, what hours is someplace open? What is the definition of a word? (Heaven help me if I should have to open a dictionary!!)

Makes me wonder how we ever did anything without the internet. I was a teenager when the internet became a big deal... uh oh... My age is showing.

Oh, goodness. I was in college when we started using it. And at that time, it was nascent--AOL, chat rooms, huge box computers (no tablets), etc. I guess I'm older than you are! But yeah, seriously, how did we survive before Internet??

One thing that has benefitted me is book reviews. When I was a teenager, if I read a self-help book or a New Age book that made me feel inadequate, there was no recourse but to believe the author knew more than I did. Now, we have multiple book reviews available on the Internet, which fosters critical thinking about these things and helps us find community when a book is hurtful.

That is a great way to look at it. I know I have read books that have left me feeling bad or were just not that great. It is wonderful to have a community to talk about those type of books or just books in general. I have also found a lot of new books through GoodReads as well as on these forums. :D

I could live without it for at least 2 or 3 days. :shifty:
