What Is Your Dream House?

Post by Cheryl Rendone »

I didn't see any topics that entailed this information. :D my husband and I will be looking for a house in a year probably and we've always dreamed of a log cabin, but they're pretty rare where we're looking to live so we'd have to build it. We plan to have at LEAST 20 acres do land and hope to find a house that is already on it. We prefer wooden floors over carpet in most rooms.

Do you own your dream home? What does your dream home entail? What is your favorite part of your dream home?

The one i'm in....
floor to ceiling glass windows...overlooking the gardens on three sides, tile and hardwood floors, a courtyard w/ my Japanese Garden........perfect kitchen, not too big or too small...everything on the main, incl. master suite and two bathrooms......third bathroom upstairs where there's a loft..........grandson loves it up there...
bright, sunny, i swear i need to wear sunglasses in this place..........

Interestingly enough i declared this my " dream house " over 20 yrs. ago when we first moved from Boca to the mts. of WNC .....but husband was a serious gardner and this property wasn't big enough for him..............

i live alone, it suits me fine....many exquisite architectural details ( the builder was a woman )...stained glass windows in the bathroom, 2 fireplaces, skylights, everywhere....perfect layout, open floor plan...

this will be my final home...i think i've been born under a lucky star...

good luck w/your new house Cheryl....20 acres who's gunna mow the lawn ?

That sounds like an amazing house Suzy!!! I would love that!! Either my husband or I will mow the lawn, hopefully we'll be able to get a tractor our a zero turn mower. I'd absolutely love to have a loft in my house, I just love the feel and look of a loft; reminds me of a vacation cabin our something I guess.

I recall watching a show on t.v. and they built a cabin with toss of glass windows, the house was absolutely gorgeous with a lake beside it, no neighbors, trees, lots of Land, 2 or 3 flours. I would LOVE a house like that, but it was pretty costly - well over a million dollars!!!

Hey Cheryl!...

Trust me my house did not cost a million dollars...even tho it is lakeside...
As my mother taught me: " Easy to live like a millionaire if you have millions, but the trick is to live that life when you DON'T have millions "....

And that's what i did!...( it didn't hurt that husband and i " flipped " a few houses and traded up each time  )

Best of luck to you and your husband...

My dream house would be two story. It would be on the beach overlooking the ocean. It would be secluded from other houses. It would have big glass windows on the second story that would look out to the ocean so you can see the sun set and rise every day. My dream house would be beautiful on the inside. It would have bright and cheery colors. My house would have at least 4 rooms. All of the rooms would be fairly large. I hate it when houses are big every else except for the bedrooms. The closets would also be big. I would have at least 3 bathrooms and an outside bathroom where you could change when you got back from the beach.

One with two libraries. The public one that has only a hundred or so books, and the secret lair where the thousands of rest are kept! :)

I love lofts and attics and other magical spaces.

My dream house has hidden areas like this:
