My first Pinto I had for 10 years. I finally had to get rid of it, my family was growing. Not in numbers, but in size. It was a good car, never had any trouble with it. My second one I had for a year, I would have kept it longer but the windshield broke and a new one would have cost more than the car was worth, I only paid 100 dollars for it. Besides that, my wife hated it. She said it looked like a dog turd.

The Batmobile in the 60s TV show was real. It was a modified 1955 Lincoln Futura. The original owner sold it last year for $4.6 million.

My favorite was a 1938 International Harvester PU Truck, 4Speed, Chrome Grill,
Bumpers, and Dash. Floor of The Bed Was 4/4 Birds Eye Maple, Pearl Paint Job was
Gun Metal Gray, Seats were teak bar stools mounted on 4" Tubing that allowed 270*
of movement. They were illegal until I modified a pair of seat belts and installed
stops that froze the seats while truck was in motion. My uncle and I were constantly
modifying it. So much so that it was probably road worthy only 3 or 4 months/ year.
We took it to Truck Shows and won a few bucks. A collector gave us 36 G for it. It was
worth lots more(if you figured in man-hours of labor). But were glad to get rid of it.

After watching the TV Special on the Pinto Accident(of all time), I don't think I'd care
to drive or own one. Whoever you are, you got guts.
When I drove a cab, a friend of mine was murdered by a %$#)*& that had just gotten
out of jail. His wife worked in a 7-11 and was being harassed by this guy who it turns
out was packing a knife. She called 911 and her husband. He showed up first in his cab.
The perp stabbed him when he tried to help his wife. He administered the coup by
slitting his throat. The cops showed up and shot and killed perp. In the aftermath,
the cab was towed to yard and left for the cops to do their inspection and report.
It was almost month before the company got around to refurbishing it. I don't think
there was a driver in the company who didn't check out "the death cab." There was
blood everywhere. His carotid had been punctured, which accounted for the
especially grizzly death scene. They detailed that cab to the nth degree. But that wasn't good enough. Nobody would bid the death cab. Finally, they crushed it and bought
another cab.

I knew a guy who bought a 58 T-Bird from a police auction for about half the book price. The car was only a year old and in good shape. Problem was, some guy offed himself in it and it sat with closed windows in the summer heat for about 6 weeks before they found it. This guy tried everything to get the smell out, new seats, upholstery, he washed it with everything from witch hazel to tomato juice, but he couldnt get rid of the smell. He finally had to get rid of it, I think it was eventually scrapped out.
