I don't think I've ever met anyone from Finland but my sister works for the EU and she tells me that Finland has the most broad minded, accommodating people anywhere on the planet ... she says it doesn't matter how ridiculous or impractical an idea is the Finns will insist on the person's right to put their case and argue it's merits.

A couple of years ago I was in our National Gallery and happened on an exhibition of Finnish paintings ... wow the light & clarity in those paintings really blew me away. Walking along a passageway towards the exhibition it really looked as though there had to be a light behind the canvasses. One particular painting was 'A Child's Funeral' by Albert Edelfelt & it left me just speechless. I must have stood in front of it for a good 15 mins. I had hoped to visit again before the exhibition closed but unfortunately didn't get to.

...... and I love my Nokia phone.

:D

Yeah, cold. I'm in the subtropical Sunshine State and amazingly it was 2 degrees last night. Okay, it was nice and dry and sunny during the daytime but nearly freezing at night. Personally I'm trying to enjoy it because I know the high summer temperatures will be here soon enough and the humidity will be off the scale. Never liked that icky sticky humidity.

Thank you....but oh really Maud we both shouldn't be complaining(especially you!) when we read about minus 15 degree temperatures. I still love Summer, even though she does knock us around abit in February; but I'm 10 min from the beach.....................

I'm from the city of Regina in the province of Saskatchewan in the country of Canada....I live in the middle of a freezer for about 6 -7 months out of the year but the summer can be rewarding. The joke here is 'if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes'...it can be raining and snowing and be sunny all within the hour!!

Thats the way Utah is, you have your cooler on one day and your heat on the next.

I'm from Perth, Western Australia.
Australian winters are nothing. Winter is my favourite season in Australia. At this very moment I'm sitting on the balcony with a cup of tea and a book, looking out over the city. There's not a cloud in the sky. Ahhh, heaven

I agree. It's a balmy mid-winter afternoon here, sun shining with a gentle breeze. And welcome, Stella. We need a few more Australian readers!

^^ A place where winter is warm is rather inviting! My brother lives in Melbourne though and he reckons it gets quite cold in winter there. Melbourne must be the exception to the Australian warm winter. :)
