Re: Lists about yourself

We should start a topic about things you make lists of.
Here is a list of the things I list:
1. to do
2. groceries
3. errands
4. chores
5. important dates and appointments
6. hmm, I think my life is a drag
7. books I want to read
8. goals for the day
It is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. J.R.R. Tolkien

I once read that by looking at a persons daily" to do " list, one would be able to " analyze " what stuff their life was really about, and if unhappy, this awareness could change it to one that would be to more to their liking...

change your list, and your " authentic " life will ultimately appear / follow...

I did, and gradually it changed..." the tail wagging the dog? "

not really, i see it as an effective tool re " mindfulness " or " separating the wheat from the chaff "

:D :D Argggh with To Do lists, I usually have a central one for the week, then keep adding and subtracting stuff on it for the month...end of month toss it and try again...not enough hours in the day...hum an amusing list, people I wish I could interview...alive, dead, or otherwise
1. Keith Richards-he'd probably be in the otherwise category...when I was a teen the guys I hung around referred to him with reverence "Effin' Keith Man!"...world famous and ripped out of your head.
2. Norman Mailer-You read that overall he was...well let's say not the most stable life form...but then from Norris Church's point of view he also might have been an intensely fascinating person.
3. Gwendolyn Brooks-I saw her speak just months before she died. GB was writing realistically about race and female sexuality at a time when a lot of writers wouldn't touch it.
4. Stephen Corbert- I've read that it's rather charming talking to him as he cycles between "Stephen" and himself. One of my favorite programs.
5. Jan Hammer- A musician I've admired from back in the day with the Mahavishnu Orchestra..." N' Effin' McLaughlin Man!"...can only imagine the stories he would have.
6. Lenny Bruce-I'd love to hear his spin on the world of today. The things he was arrested for in his time are part of cartoons now...I think that says a lot about where we've ended up.
7. Clark Gable-Just. Because.... :D

If this isn't a diverse group I don't know what is...let's see-Keef, Stephen, Jan and Lenny would be reminiscing the old days and current affairs, Gwendolyn would be listening politely, Norman would be picking fights with everyone and Clark would wish he was dead again...

I thought that I had made up the name Elannort (it's an anagram) - now you have me worried. What is the context?

There's always "helpful" people suggesting that you simply sort things out by prioritizing, sure that's a lovely idea in theory...how about five things that all have equal priority that are making me loony
1. Must get at least two estimates on ceiling leak
With the freakish snow storms and having to schedule it when I can take my dog out...he gets a bit territorial with strange guys in the house.
2. Must get a schedule for kids dental work
$$$ plus trying to reassure her when I'm the biggest dental chicken there is.
3. Must schedule doctor for me and hubby
What fun, you get to hear what else is wrong with you...
4. Must seriously find a second job
With 10,000 people in line behind me, younger more animated people.
5. Must get car to be tuned up before the tires rattle off
$$$$$ Three thing I wish I could do myself...electric, plumbing and auto repair.
