It's not that much. If you have a genuine interest in what they assign you, it gets done really fast. Unfortunately, not many people have this mindset.

I'm surprised that many teens can find much time to read considering how much schoolwork they make you do.
But most teenagers do not have households to run, jobs, and kids! :)

I have to tell you guys...I skipped College out of High school. Something I really regret. Instead I had some crazy idea to join the military, get married and see the world. Ooops, then I had two babies.

Now I am 26, graduating with my bachelors with a 4.0 and I have a 5 and 4 year old. Going to school with kids, working full time, and trying to have any sort of life of my own is positively insane. Can be done though! But I recommend picking a fabulous college and having a blast! :) Babies, work, and play time can come later! :)

So good luck to you all! Have FUN!!! :) I will live vicariously through you.... :)

I'm 19, so this is my last year as a teenager :(

I read a lot, and always did through high school, but I sacrificed good grades for reading. It was a trade-off for me rather than an addition.

I'm 21 but I still like watching teen television shows, such as gossip girl, although ive heard that its pretty normal for older people to be watching that show. I never did get into teen fiction, what are you all reading?

Well hey there. I'm also a teen. I like anything to do with vampires, don't even talk to me about all that Twilgiht stuff though. I read anything from Pride and Prejudice to Catcher and the Rye to The Watchers by Dean Koontz to... well you get the point. I read a lot. And as to response to the post before mine- most of the teens here are pretty mature for their time and actually do their homework. Why else would they be a member on such a formal reading forum?

I worked all through high school and pretty much supported myself--bought my own clothes, my own food, paid for all my vehicle expenses. Most of my friends worked through high school as well. Is this odd or something? I thought a lot of teenagers did this in high school.

You know i'm really happy to see so many teens there. And i'm very glad that you read. It's cool that you find time to read and discuss your tastes too. Keep doing like this!

I'm nineteen years old; a legal adult, but technically still a teenager! I've read omnivorously all my life, both adult and teen books. I've also been writing stories my whole life, and those that I love and many teachers that I've had, have told me that I have a talent that they'd like me to put to good use. I'm writing a novel now, based on an idea I've had since I was seventeen. I hope to see it published someday.

I'm 15. I don't have much time to read. (What was said about work going fast if you enjoy it, btw, SO untrue. English still eats up my time.) I also have no plans for career writing, just for fun, expressing my views, and yes, with luck, a little extra cash.
@vamp666 - It's like Harry P. Don't hate the mediocre series, hate the hacks who try to cash in on a trend. God, I'd like to shoot the next wannabe emo hag to come out with a vampire book.

I had a part time job in high school, as did a lot of my other friends. But, I quit track and was only involved in theater after school. Besides rehearsal and work, I did 6+ hours of homework a night. Then I got up at 5:30 a.m. to get ready and beat the morning traffic so I wouldn't be late at 7:40. If you took the bus you were late.

I was considered by many universities to be not very involved with my school. It was true; I didn't do competitive sports and I wasn't a class officer or on science team. But, dayyam, I'm not superwoman.

To all you teens out there, keep on rocking the homework load and managing to read for fun! University is much, much easier! :)

I am a teenager, I'm 15. A little bit younger than you. I love to read and write. I haven't written a book, it seems a like a huge step for me, I don't think I'm quite ready yet. I still have a lot to learn. I'm not sure what I want to be when I grow up but all I know is that for as long as I can remember, I've loved reading and mostly writing. I do like chick flick books. I haven't read many, but the ones I have read were really good. :)

I technically count I'm 13 but I don't count myself as a teen until I'm 15 don't know why.
