Remember Fred Warings Pennsylvanians that came on the radio in the mornings with Uncle Lumpy and Little Orley? I listened to it every morning before I went to school.

When I was a kid we had four Little Orley records - the old 78 rpm kind - and we LOVED them! I have no idea where they came from. Last year I found some of those old songs online and put three or four on my phone. Hadn't heard them in YEARS.

I mean, Little Orley was WAY before my time, but very good memories from my childhood nonetheless.

That show was on every morning. The Pennsylvanians would do a couple songs and Uncle Lumpy and Little Orley would do their act. If I remember right, it was only on for 15 minutes. I didnt know they made records of it.

And there was Buster Brown on Saturday mornings with Smilin Ed McConnell sponsored by Buster Brown shoes. "Im Buster Brown. I live in a shoe. (Woof Woof) Thats my dog Tige. He lives in there too." They had different adventure shows, one series was about an Indian boy and his elephant, one series was about a kid pilot fighting the Nazis during the war. Fun stuff.

The biggest thing I remember on the radio when I was a Kid was listening to Paul Harvey in the car with my parents as they drove us kids to school. It was always cool to listen to him. A great man with a great voice!

Yeah, he was. He had some bizarre stories. Another one who did strange sports stores was Bill Stern. Sometimes Frank Sinatra filled in for him.

Paul Harvey was on for a million years. I think they still broadcast his old shows.

Remember the old newscasters? Sam Hayes, Drew Pearson, H.P or V Kaltenborn, Walter Winchell, and of course Huntley-Brinkley.

Probably. Most nowdays listen to FM and the boring repetitive top 40.

I used to get a lot of stations here talk shows and stuff I listened to a lot, but they ran some high power lines down my street and all I get is static now. Bummer.

Never thought of that. Ive got one packed away, I should dig it out. But the last time i listened to it a couple years ago, there wernt many stations on, not like there used to be.
