We love the bacon and cabbage here in Ireland, its a regular staple dinner item so you would be most welcome over here! They even have a song about it- it goes like "I am a savage for bacon and cabbage....etc (serious)".

Im pretty much 100% Irish with some mild roots in America and Scotland.
Cabbage, bacon and noodles damn delicious.

Goodness... I love those things :(
But I don't eat bacon... Haha, no one will ever know if I sneak some in Ireland...

A good aul plate of spuds, hash brown, bacon, cabbage, crubeens and black pudding is what awaits those who like Irish grub, and if you guessed even half those foods well done ha.

Hmm, i hate to break it to you Michael, but the redheaded lass is a bit of a dying breed in Ireland and is probably up there with leprachauns and magic rainbows in the 'List of cliches that people from other countries believe about Ireland'. We have a few of course but not as many as films like Far and Away would have you believe

StephenKingman ... you need to check out the West Coast, we still have lots of redheads here. And we could probably rustle up a few eprachauns if required.

Yeah but most of those redheads are pushing 50!

I know you still have redheads, i was just making the general point that leprechauns and redheads are not the only thing Ireland still has to offer in these modern times. Im sure many an eye would be open if people just come over here.

Fortunately, I'm really not picky about hair color.

But, I also realize that Eire offers much more than her clichéd attributes. I hope to visit one day.

I really hope you do as well. Of course we are suffering the recession just like a lot of other countries but i like to think we have maintained our warm hospitality and traditional culture of entertaining, not to mention trad music and maybe some poitin! Ha i reckon Fran isnt a city slicker like myself so she will tell you the best places to go for beaches and islands etc (if im wrong about that Fran, just let me know ha) whereas i will show you the hot city spots.

No bother ... highland and islands tours can be arranged with suitable watering holes en route

Cliffs of Moher and Aran Islands equals pure Ireland! Always wondered though, why do so few people actually go the whole length of the Moher and back again- you know that derelict building at the very end of the cliffs? When we went there in August i loved walking the whole 7km there and back, ok its a bit tricky in places but i wasnt going to head up to Clare and not experience the whole cliffs in their entirety. Seems most people just took a few pictures from O Briens Tower then headed home
