So flattered that someone read my sig ... that's a quote I came across in 'The Infinities' by John Banville it's not credited to anyone so I assume Mr Banville himself came up with it!

Now here is one ...
'If a victory is told in detail, one can no longer distinguish it from a defeat'
We fade away, but vivid in our eyes

A French philosopher called Jean-Paul Sartre - had to look the guy up, but I actually recognised the quote!

How about this one.

AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED, THE ENTIRE REASON FOR BECOMING A WRITER IS NOT HAVING TO GET UP IN THE MORNING.

Howdy howdy Fran, that quote is made by James Michener. If I am not mistaken.

Now how about....

MARRIAGE, IN LIFE, IS LIKE A DUEL IN THE MIDST OF BATTLE.

My ex husband.

Whoops! That was for Gannon's.

...That's gotta be a Harry Potter thing.
How perfectly goddamned delightful it all is, to be sure.

I do believe that was our good friend Mr Bill Shakespeare

It most certainly was.
And your quote was by Virginia Woolf.

"When a girl walks in, with an itty bitty waist, and a round thing in your face..."

The quote was actually made by Edmond About not Charles Caleb Colton, but close enough. :D

Too funny! Sir Mix-A-Lot, with my theme song. Or was he just quoting Oscar Wilde?

"My a** is way too big. They tell me men like it like that. Crazy, huh?"

...I got this from a book of quotes; they swear it's accurate!

Tralala, you have done it again, I am stumped as to who made that quote and I have looked and searched for about half an hour. Unless anyone else knows it, I think you are going to have to tell us who said it. Please. :)

Zow...it's Marilyn Monroe. I'll have to get that book out again...

Okay, here's a few of 'em, all from the same person. Should be fairly recognizable...unfortunately.

"What a waste it is to lose one's mind. Or not to have a mind is very wasteful. How true that is."
"We're going to have the best-educated American people in the world."
"I have made good judgements in the past. I have made good judgements in the future."
"Illegitimacy is something we should talk about in terms of not having it."
"Verbosity leads to unclear, inarticulate things."
How perfectly goddamned delightful it all is, to be sure.
