I wouldnt be surprised if someone made a movie with a plot like that. Or another one, altho this isnt my idea, make one from Arch Oboler's Lights Out story Chicken Heart. About a scientist who injected a chicken heart with something and it grew and grew and grew and covered the earth, eating every living thing. Now that would be a hit.

Malibu High. Hooter flick from the late 70s. Looks like an amateur film made for about five hundred bucks. Absolutely unwatchable.
