My third wife had multiple personalities, 79 of them alltogether. She married one of her husbands while one of them was in control, and her real self didnt know any thing about it. I think I married the real her, but Im not 100 percent sure. At least she never woke up in the morning and asked, who the hell are you?

OMG Bighuey. How did you know that she had 79? Did the doctors count them or something?

That would completely freak me out! Were any of the personalities violent?

Ah hell, Paul Newman's wife was the psychiatrist in it ... Joanne Woodward & if I'm not mistaken Jodie Foster was the child. It was a terribly, terribly upsetting movie .... bet Bighuey will give me the title

It was documented by doctors. She had a list, some were even men. I didnt know anything about it until her psychiatrist called me into her office at one of her sessions, told me that she wasnt really supposed to tell me, but my wife wanted me to know and try to understand her mental problems. I knew she had different moods, but when they told me about 79 of them that just about floored me. It wasnt as bad as it sounds, when she started to get weird I would put her to bed to sleep it off. A sort of funny thing happened one time while we were in a store. She went into one of her moods, it must have been a janitor that took her over. She started wandering around, saying she had to sweep the floor.People were staring at us so I rushed her out to the car, but she kept saying she had to go back and sweep the floor. Nap time. I took her home and put her to bed and she was fine.

@ Rugee, some of them were not exactly violent, but very agressive. It wasnt like they took her completely over most of the time, but her personality would change drasticaly. Once in a while she would not know me, it was like she was in a dream world. She would get this blank look and talk about really off the wall stuff. I would put her to bed and after some sleep she would be back to normal.

@ Fran, that movie always stuck with me, too. I think Joanne Woodward got an Oscar for her performance.

Over the past few days, I have come to realise that I should only be fearing the basics of life which we take for granted every day, like even being able to walk. I have had bad sciatic pain the past week which came to a head thursday night when i was struck down in pain, couldnt move my left leg at all, had to get a CareDoc up for a shot of morphine and was taken to hospital. Could barely move my left thigh and hip for a whole day (dosed up on strong painkillers) but thank God i can hobble around slowly now and have to take a cocktail of pills 4 times daily which is a small price for mobility.

I have been signed off work for a week now so i will take the time to begin a new wlaking and posture routine, thanking my lucky stars and of course catching up on a few books. It really is the small things in life we should be thankful for.

Sorry to hear that Mike, hope recovery is well on the way & you'll be back to normal in no time ... at least you get to catch up on your reading & you are flying through books recently (maybe that's where you overdid it!)

^ Thanks Fran, thats nice of you, yeah im going to use my time constructively with a pile of books just looking at me waiting to be read, and i shall speed read in a chair not to overdo it ha ha. This kind of thing really brings you back to basics so i am taking it day by day now, plus im going to be here a lot more which is always a good thing

Sorry to hear that, Mike. What is it, a pinched nerve? I had the same thing once, they said it was a pinched nerve. It gradually got better but I still have a numb tingly place on my thigh. Hope you have a speedy recovery.
