Lafayette was made by Nash. If you remember Nashes, they were the ones that in 1950 looked like an upside-down bathtub. The same class as Hudson, Kaiser, Frazier and Henry J. Oh yes, dont forget the Crosley. It was made by a refergerator company and looked like a cigar box on wheels. There was a Crosley in the movie Porkys.

Oh yes, i remember the Nash ( rambler ?)....talk about ugly cars looking like a " cigar box on wheels ", funny you should say that, i call the "SCION " by Toyota a " bread box on wheels "...

For me, that wins " the UGLIEST car " award hands down...whatta HORROR of design...i see very few of them on the road...i wonder WHY?..............hello????...

I once had a car that looked like a " space ship "...loved the design, but the engine wasn't worth crap, and the model was discontinued...it was always breaking down...

Can anyone guess what it was?

My most problem free car i've ever had was my 1967 Ford Mustang convertible...

My Worst was ANY jag i've ever owned...but did that ever stop me from driving them?...nosiree, i'm a glutton for punishment...i'm in love w/the DESIGN...

Thats for sure. You couldnt get a hubcap for that now.

The only new car I have ever owned was a 71 Pinto. It was 1800 dollars and it cost 2.50 to fill the gas tank.

I rode in a Jag once, the most uncomfortable I have ever rode in. No leg or head room. I would need two of them, one for each foot.

Ive had several cars given to me over the years, but most were junk. One exception was a 65 Chevy that my mother-in-law gave me, it was a pretty good car. What was funny, when I went to licence it, they asked what I paid for it. I said nothing, it was given to me. He said they have to put something down, they figure the tax from the purchase price. I said I dont know, what do you suggest? He put one dollar down, said that will work. I drove it for about a year, then bought another car. I gave it to my brother-in-law to drive in the stock car races. He drove it in a few races before it became junk. Its probably razor blades by now.

they showed a restored 1967 Porsche and the latest brand new vette at a paltry sum of $ 52,ooo...yikes!

my 1st car ( TR 6 ) was about $2800 :) ............

That was the good old days. Ive got an old newspaper from 1926 that has an ad for a new Ford for 650 dollars. Crank included. What is a new Ford now, 20 or 30 thousand?

Thats for sure. Sad thing is that most new cars are throw-away cars. You drive them until they break, then you throw them away. Gone are the days when you could fix up an old junker with duct tape and bailing wire.

My first car was a dark blue 1983 Mercury Marquis. Bought for $200 for my brother then handed down to me 2 years later! It was a death trap, but it was mine!

I've found that although they " look good " their performance is questionable...sorta like a good looking girlfriend / boyfriend who sucks in the " niceness " quotient

They have a lot of problems with the newer ones, but the old ones were great cars. I had a 53 Imperial and a 50 Highlander that were really good cars. Gas hogs, but when gas was 25 cents a gallon that didnt matter.
