And there's lots of books, of course. I wonder if that librarian still works there or she went to Seattle?
Hey there Maud. I am going to Brissy for a holiday later in the year. I will definitely check out that library it sounds awesome. :D

I saw a pic of the new library in Mexico City. Its really different, all kinds of weird angles, it looks like the whole thing is made out of polished vanadium steel. If I can remember where I saw the pic Ill post it. Its really cool.

I found a pic of it, this must be inside.

@BH

I think it would take me longer than a week. How far is it from where you live? If you go there, please take photos to show us all. :D

Its quite a ways, about 1000 miles. Not likely I will ever go there, but it would be some experience.

Wow, I did not realise it was that far away from you. It would be a great experience to walk around inside. :D

What will happen to all the beautiful architectural libraries in the world when everything becomes fully electronic, digital, stored in iCloud? I guess they will just become museums of a forgotten age, a primary school excursion day.

It's very sad Maud, but I think that it is inevitable. The only question is how long it will take. If you look back just five or ten years it is scary how fast it is happening.

@Maud/Gannon
I came across a little book The Library of Unrequited Love by Sophie Divry (translated from French) &, knowing how both of you love libraries and appreciate librarians, I think this little book would really appeal. It's written as a one-way conversation between a librarian (rather eccentric!) and a reader who has been locked in overnight in her library.
I thought it a lovely little read and, as an aside, it reminds me of our beloved Helene Hanff & 84 Charing Cross. I recommend it to you both and it's only 91 pages - either of you would read it over a coffee!

Sorry Fran, I only just came across this post. It does sound like something I would enjoy thanks. I am adding it to my TBR now.
