So rant thread: ANYONE WITH A WEAK STOMACHE FOR ANIMALS PLEASE DONT READ!!!
Okay it's not really a rant but it's sad so if you dont like sad cry boo-hoo stories dont read. It's really sick.
Last night i found a 3 week old kitten under my house (well in my vent...) and it looked like it literally came from hell. It was terrified, bloody and missing it's tail. So i had my dad go under the house and check to see if there were anymore and he found four dead kittens and the momma dead.
Something had gotten ahold of them and ripped them to shreds. All of the kittens were missing the lower parts of their bodies. I dont know how long they had been under there but it's really breaking my heart that i didnt know they were there and that i couldnt save all of them. I have one but, Apparently when whatever came after her (and got her tail...) she found a way into my vent and that saved her.
She's totally shaken (obviously) and it took HOURS to get her to even calm down. Poor thing. She keeps jumping at every little sound and crying. I took her to the vet today and he checked her out. He said he'll be surprised if she makes it. He told me he's seen bigger miracles, so i'm hoping she stays strong and he gave me little tips to help her. I'm bottle feeding her and everything. She seems like she's doing really good, other than the jumpiness, but I'm still worried about her.

I know that it's nature, but it's disgusting. When i saw those poor babies missing parts of their bodies i got sick and i'm pretty much trying not to get sick just thinking about it. How could something do that to another living creature? I understand nature, and that everything's doing what it has to do to survive, but why does it have to be so hurtfully sad? It's torture! Poor babies...

I named her Gemma (after SOA since im that nerdy...) because of how strong she's being through all of this. I know she probably doesnt understand what happened, but still. It's sad.

I just hope she makes it...

I'm such a terrible person... Haha.
But that is horrid, I hate when I don't know something was going on and am very capable of stopping or preventing such a catastrophe (no pun intended) from happening.
Though not really a cat person, I would have done the same were I in your place; good on with the humanitarian efforts.
Haha, so I was right when I commented on this on Facebook and you naming her Gemma!
Dang, I'm so good.

Haha, I could live with an opossum, and oddly and honestly haha, I would name him Mike.
I don't care for rabbits though.
Haha, I'm buying pufferfish! Woot woot! So purty, and neon green!!!
And they go POOF!
Ah hahaha, I CAN'T WAIT.
I hate when animals are abused though, I saw a guy kick his dog hard once and it yelped, so I went up to him and kicked him back. Hahaha, he got all mad.
But I told him if he hits his dog again I'm going to do the exact same thing to him harder.
Then he pet his dog on the head, and I pet him... And walked away. Hahaha.
Karma biotch.

But because they do have soo many "hot vampire"crazy tweens out there, you know it's still going to sell... Which is freakin' pathetic. That says nothing for the author really, it's just marketing.
Where's a publishing cyborg when you need one?...

Once I saw that part in the movie, I was soo enraged!
That goes against all vampire history and all of the great books before that!
Anne Rice is like THE vamp writer, tons of books, do vampires go twinkle twinkle little star in her books?
I think not.

Favoritism in the Workplace

My boss is a few yrs older than me and at his age (33) he has still much to learn about how to delegate work fairly and treat team members fairly. He has been in the job 4yrs now but his M.O is to latch on to the one person in the group who wants to impress him most and will do anything for him "Yes Sir, No Sir etc" and delegate all the work and all the praise on to that person whilst under-using and ignoring the other four people in the group.
When i was green and naive 3yrs ago i was that person, working all hours of the day and night, asking to do weekends, even asking could i get him lunch until one day i copped on- i was being used for my good nature and he was never going to allow me to progress as an analyst, he simply wanted me to do all the work and follow him around. So i told him one day that he expects too much off me and although he apologised and said that wasnt his intention, i think he was just surprised i stood up to him. Did he change his ways? Pah, he simply gave me less work to do and latched on to a guy who is new to our group and filled with naive intentions.
So now that guy is the first called upon to do any new projects, any new tests or any overtime. Whilst i personally have found myself almost asking for work to fill the time and then he gives me donkey work instead of letting me upskilll and make a real contribution. I am ambitious and hard working so its very frustrating to be the last person called upon to do a task, its demeaning. And although he under-uses one or two others, they are slightly lazy so dont mind doing less whereas im being punished for not wanting to kiss up to my boss. He did the same to another guy when he was first boss and now he devotes all his back-slapping and praise for this one guy and im left ignored. I think there should be an employment law against any obvious displays of favoritism in the workplace, because he also loves people who play football and drink heavily, neither of which i do, so he doesnt even try to hide his bias when chatting to these people. At the root of his character is a coward in my opinion because he tends to be wary of the 3 women in our group, some of which have lazy days or cause trouble and he hasnt got the stones to stand up to them so he piles the work on the men.
I know the usual cliches apply here, i should be grateful to have a job etc and yes, i know with half a million people unemployed here, im extremely happy to have a job and i have decent money and a good lifestyle but Christ, there is absolutely nothing more demoralizing than watching your workmates get treated better than you based on nothing but the toxic combination of an eager wide eyed worker and a parasite of a boss who takes advantage of people.
If the situation continues next January i will tear him a new arse at our bi-annual performance meetings. I look forward to that.
