That sounds great, Teesie. Im fortunate in that the beach is only about a 45 min walk from where I live. Im going to take a vacation in Oct. and go to Utah for a couple of weeks to see my kids, if I can save enough dinero for the trip. I havent seen my two boys for about two and a half years, Im looking forward to it. Ill have to cut down to eating beans and rice for a while but it will be worth it.

I know what you mean, brother. We been watching every penny for almost a month now, making sure we budget enough for our trip. I found a decent motel that's only $80 a night so we can stay an extra day longer than I thought we were gonna be able to. I made my reservations on Tuesday, and now I'm trying to get the house good and clean so I can come home to a nice clean house. We're leaving out on a Thursday close to the end of July and staying over the weekend. I just can't wait! :D

Ive always wanted to go to Egypt and do what the writer Richard Halliburton did, spend the night in the great pyramid. That would be some experience.

The Pyramids were built as tombs? ... and you want to spend the night in there ... you could have a lot of company?

Have you been at the taquila?

One of my favourite holidays is a farmstay. Sometimes you can stay with the farming family and other times you can have a cabin to yourself. It can be a sheep station, horse stud, sugar cane plantation or just thousands of hectares of countryside. Recently I stayed in the mountains with a variety of farm animals (they were in paddocks, of course) and the owners had some pretty fearless horses. When you rode down a hillside you had to sit way back and hang on otherwise you'd slip off over the horse's head. But it didn't stop the horse. It would snatch a mouthful of grass as it slid downwards. This farm has a huge dovecote, reminiscent of those once used in Europe, and a beautiful old stone chapel. Rather special in Australia because our white fella history doesn't go back very far - over 200 years is old by non-Indigenous standards.

One of my favorite vacation spots was in southern Utah, Bryce Canyon, Monument valley. Monument Valley was called John Ford country, he made a lot of his movies there. The Searchers, Fort Apache, She Wore A Yellow Ribbon and many more. If youve ever seen any of those movies they show what that country is like. We used to camp there and it was really cool just to lay there at night and listen to the wind and other night noises. Its like the landscape of Mars, everything is red with fantastic mesas and rock spires and red desert as far as you can see. Bryce Canyon is like the ground sank and left weird rock formations. Its a cool place. If youre not used to the altitude, its 8,000 feet you will do a lot of huffing and puffing. Southern Utah is one of my favorite places.

I'm hoping to save up enough money to be able to go to Melbourne around the New Year. My older brother lives there and I really wanna go to a big city. Otherwise my alternative is going to Wellington to see my friend who lives there.

Big cities are overrated. On the contrary, I spend my holidays on quiet countryside and I think I'll turn mad once I return to Prague and face so many people on a daily basis...

Yes I sometimes like to spend my holiday somewhere quiet. However, Christchurch city centre(though I wouldn't call Chch a "big" city) has been closed for over 5 months now, I wanna go somewhere with really tall buildings and just get amongst the hustle and bustle. They get to be a bit much after a while though don't they. I have heard that Melbourne is awesome. I shall see...[/img]
