I remember what it was like to be young and think that we're all in the same boat and no one should get special treatment. Then I grew up and realized that physically we are all equals but in terms of life lived we are not nor do we all have the same value in the eyes of society.
We are pre-judge by the society

Yeah, thats a devastating lesson in life but very well illustrated in this book-rich versus poor, string versus weak, the rungs of the ladder in society, its all there in black and white and sadly his message is still just as relevant in 2011.

Ah go on it was a great day for the Brits.
Hell if Obama got married on telly I'd watch it too ... or anyone else for that matter. It's the style and the pomp and chance someone will stumble! I thought for a second he wasn't going to be able to get the ring on her finger.
And fair play to an 85 year old who can carry off canary yellow ... good on you girl!
Just imagine poor Kate she will never again be able to wear her track suit or her favorite jeans ... and never again be seen without makeup. I wouldn't be up for that at all

^ Just saw the footage of the crowds around the Palace and it was very impressive, i will say that Kate one looks a lot older than 28, she has a real lived-in face that could easily pass for 38.

I just hope the Travel Channel doesn't decide to post-pone my Ghost Adventures tonight to replay the weddin over and over like every other channel will for the next week or so.

That being said. It's history in the making. How many more royal weddings of the future King are we going to have the chance to witness in our lifetimes. The last one happened seven years before I was even born! I mean there will be Harry's wedding if he gets married, but it's unlikely that he would be the King someday because that falls to William. His will be just as Prince Andrew's was. Royal, because he's royalty, but not as promenent because he'll never be king. So history wise, this is a pretty big occaision. It only happens once in every generation.

SKman, your comment about Kate cracked me up! Well I guess there's no botox in GB....hee hee

Tip the bottle- I live in Washington State, but we lived in NJ for 13 years...my friends back there are much more into the royal wedding than people are here. I enjoyed it, and I remember Princess Di's wedding as well.

What makes me happy is the Queen finally has begun to pay taxes. For many years the monarchy didn't have to pay taxes. With all that money she had...and the poor people paying instead. Also, thankfully, she paid for a large part of the wedding.

It's sad how the wedding is watched so closely here in the USA, when we've had such trauma with the torradoes here....

Does she personally have huge wealth? I thought it was the Monarch as an institution had the wealth held sort of in trust for the British people ... I mean it's not like she can take a notion and sell off Buck House or a few paintings is it?

I know parts of US have had it rough weather wise & I sympathize but isn't it when things are rough (and Britain is suffering a recession too) that people need this kind of lift ... harmless bit of escapism IMO

I'm Irish what am I doing defending the British Monarchy ... serious malfunction somewhere.
