I will leave this topic here and open for users who still want to know how to use BBCode to make text bold or italic when posting in the forums.

However, there is no longer any requirement to make anything bold or italic in reviews done via the Review Team.

In times past, it was considered a grammar error to not put a book title in italics. That's no more. Times have changed. It's now considered just as correct to put a book title in quotation marks.

Likewise, it use to be required to put the rating in bold print in the review, but we removed that requirement from the Guidelines many months ago.

Feel free to play around in the replies this topic to get the hang of BBCode, but if you can't figure it out or don't want to bother with it, don't worry about it all.

There's never any strict need to put anything in italic or bold or underline or different colors or bigger or smaller.

Those are just cool tricks that tech savvy people can use if desired. Like a smilie or emoji: ;) ;) ;)

Scott wrote: 09 Aug 2023, 22:38 To make text bold, you have to use the following code:

Code: Select all

Regular text. [b]Text you want bold.[/b] Regular text.
The above will display as follows:
Regular text. Text you want bold. Regular text.

-----

Similarly, to make text italic, you use the following code:

Code: Select all

Regular text. [i]Text you want italic.[/i] Regular text.
The above will display as follows:
Regular text. Text you want italic. Regular text.
----

For more info about the codes, read here: wiki-how

If you are having trouble making text display as bold or italic, please reply to this topic with the example sentence: "Regular text. Bold text. Regular text."

Do your best to make the words "bold text" bold. This way I can see exactly what you are doing and why it is not working for you.

If you don't include the sentence "Regular text. Bold text. Regular text." then your post will be ignored. I'm not saying that you have to bold the text correctly to get a reply, but I am saying you have to to include the three-sentence six-word example text so that I can exactly what you are doing

We can't help you if we can't see what you are doing.

Hi, I have been trying to submit my book review for preview but I keep getting the message
"The following issues must be fixed before you can submit this review: You need to write the rating of the book within the review in the format 4 out of 5. You did select the rating in the menu below the review, but you need to also actually write it in the review."

I have typed my rating into the review as required and tried several different places and ways using bb code to score it as a 4 out of 5 and typing the title in italics. It shows the rating in bold in format required as well as title in italics but I still get the same fix errors message. Can you advise please?
