"Did you just say werewolf woods???" I shake my head and back away, "Uh uh, sorry not happening. I'm not going any further."
Her eyes, burning ever brighter seemed to scorch me with its gaze. "It is as it has been foretold. You have destroyed the wicked beast and now you must help me." She took one step in my direction. "Please do not make me use force...."
Well....what choice did I have? I.....

spun around and ran, and ran, and ran but strangly my legs would only move in slow motion like I was in a bad dream, a really bad dream. Behind me I could hear heavy footsteps, gaining on me and maniacal laughter began to echo in my ears. Really, Maniacal laughter? I said to myself enough is enough and I turned around and pulled out my....

glass bottle and slowly turned around and saw her motioning with her finger "No,no." She walked up to me and with her finger pushed me on the forehead and I fell down. "You fool!" she says, he eyes became so bright it look like you could be staring into a orange fire. "Why me? Why did you pick me?" I say to her. "Have you not been listening to me? You are the hero who is to save the land from Evil and rescue my dear father." she says. After that I answered....

“That’s very flattering, Paige. Unfortunately I’m allergic to wolf fur. I didn’t bring any tablets with me so I think I’ll retrace my steps and head back home.” I spun around and walked straight into a tall tree in the middle of the pathway. Where had that come from? A twist of fear knotted through my stomach and up my spine. As I tried to speak my mouth went dry and all that came out was a tiny squeak of terror. A huge branch of the tree rose upward and came swishing down towards me. Instinctively I ducked, buckling at the knees, but when I straightened up I discovered the branch had wrapped around me in a leafy embrace. A twig-snapping voice boomed “You are the One. You must enter Werewolf Woods.” Paige rested her hand on my arm. “We have prepared for you.” Her orange eyes were glowing fiercely yet her words were tinged with sorrow. “Please, you must help us find my father before it’s too late”.
My brain was buzzing with questions and.......

more questions. 'Why was I the one? What did they mean they prepared for me? Prepared what exactly? Was I really going to meet a werewolf? Did I have a cross handy.....oh wait that's vampires, what kills werewolves again?'
I realised that I must have had a vacant look on my face whilst I pondered these questions because Paige was looking at me a little oddly. Clearing my throat I told her I would go with her. The tree branch unwrapped itself from me and stood still once more. I took a deep breath and looked into Paige's eyes which had reverted back to a calm orange simmer.
"Lead the way," I said.

My brave words belied my fear. I tried to stop shivering by standing up straight, mentally telling myself to be strong. Paige saw this weakness and a look of doubt crossed her face. Then with a shrug of her thin shoulders, she indicated that she was going to make the best of a bad situation after all. This gesture only added fuel to my rising paranoia of ending up on a sacrificial altar. "Let's get moving," I muttered before I could change my mind. Paige took off, ducking and weaving down the uneven pathway as I raced behind her with the words You can do this, You can do this pounding in my head with every step. Paige shouted back over her shoulder, "It's silver bullets for werewolves." Had she read my mind? Her answer was irrelevant, we didn't have a gun or silver ammunition. Out of breath, we rounded a bend and saw.....

a boy shivering in the corner. He was about as old as I am and he was hugging his knees muttering something. He was startled at the sight of us. I was about to approach him when Paige held her hand out signalling me to stop. She walked closer to the boy and sat next to him. She said, "Alex...... I found her. We're going to be okay." she pats his back. He looks up at me with grey eyes and tattered cloths with dry blood on his shirt. He then whispers to Paige...

"I miss dad so much." he then buries his head in pages shirt. While I wait for them to calm down I decided to take a look around my surroundings. Alex wasn't the only one who seemed to be suffering. The more I looked around the more I noticed that this place looked less like a town or village and more like a war zone. Suddenly I wasn't scared anymore I knew I had to be brave if Paige thought I was the one that could help her family then I only had one more question to ask.....

"Do you know where my Gucci handbag is? I left my gun in there." Paige told me that it had been eaten by werewolves. I suddenly had something worth fighting for. I decided to forget about Paige & Alex, but instead seek vengeance by myself. As I ran through the woods I bumped into something and fell over. From the ground I looked up and saw...

.....a set of stone steps leading up to a huge Gothic cathedral carved into the side of a mountain. It had a brightly-lit neon sign over the ornate wooden doorway which read "Enter, and all will be revealed" but every 60 seconds it flashed over to read "All who enter here, will die". I had a gut feeling that vital answers for Paige and Alex could be found inside. Also, I knew without a shadow of doubt that my Gucci handbag had been placed on the sacrificial altar. Behind me, the howls of a rabid werewolf pack sent me scuttling up the steps and through the doorway. The gloomy interior smelt like candles and incense. As I walked slowly across the uneven tiled floor.....

... my footfalls echoed in the cavernous room. It was then that I glanced behind me. What I saw arrested all physical movement. My mind went suddenly blank. My legs became as wax candles, softening beneath the blazing heat in an arid desert, threatening to melt and drag me down to the uneven tiles from which I knew I would never rise again. The creature, crouching in the doorway through which I had entered, made no sound or movement but its demonic eyes which were locked upon my own burrowed deeply into my soul. A single line of saliva slowly, slowly descending from a bared fang was the only movement in the room. In stupid desperation my mind raced to collate all information which could save me ... Even a man who is pure in heart and says his prayers by night, can become a wolf when the wolfsbane blooms and the autumn moon is bright ... silver bullets ... a man bitten by a werewolf will become one himself ... I had only moments to react before the inevitable spring, and death. My only hope was to ...

You are too kind CNC. It has been a month since the last installment to this story so I must assume the thread has died a merciful death *LOL*

If it had continued I would offer the theory that the glimmer of moonlight was reflected on the silver-plated blade of a knife which was protruding from the missing handbag which, drawing from previous posts, was laying on the altar. For some reason yet to be explained the werewolf would be unable to approach the altar. Someone had put the knife, the only weapon on the island available to kill a werewolf, on the altar to protect it. The character, in a moment of inspiration and insight, jumps upon the altar and the werewolf is frustrated in his attempt to kill him because he cannot go near the altar.
