I think being a Mom and working with the public can boost our immunity sometimes. I used to work in a big daycare center and you'd spend the day in germ ground zero...running noses, little people hacking in your face, changing diapers...but some of us stayed surprisingly healthy anyways...then again there were some people who were sick from day one until they left...interesting question

I do believe in vitamin C - I used to get bronchitis every winter, and then I happened to buy a case of oranges one year
Because I had so many I needed to eat them before they could spoil and that was the first winter I didn't get sick a minute. I haven't had bronchitis since and I do get plenty of vitamin C.

I had a college prof who said it was good if you had vitamin C in your sweat, that it was good for your skin even on the way out!!!

I do think many people develop immunities when they work around a lot of people like that, too, but the first few months can be hard because some people will catch everything that comes along.

I have my orange juice every morning. :D

Little bit worried about my little one - he hasn't gained as much weight as he should have over the past month. Been advised to make a few changes to my diet to see if I can increase my milk supply. If not I may have to switch to formula which I really don't want to do. Wish us luck! :)

It's been suggested that having a beer can help milk production...seriously. Also pumping after a feeding can tell your nummies to step up the flow. Perhaps you have a Le Leche group locally or can find one online for more advice?

Lots of water, and at least 2000 calories a day is the advice I've been given. Lots of other little things too - I'm hoping we will soon be back on track!

Misaela wrote:Thanks to e-books and this website I have resumed reading. Now I need to find good books in Spanish for my baby and me to read together.

I got board books in Spanish from Amazon. Of course you may have an easier time getting things locally!

Isabel Allende wrote some nice stories for kids, there is one about a blue dolphin, do you know that one?
It is for older kids.

If you find something good, would you share titles and authors?

I read at night when kids are in bed . Which explains why I am always tired. I also ALWAYS have a book with me , so if I have to wait somewhere I can read.

It's been awhile since my kids were small, so I can't really remember how much reading I did in the early years. At least, reading for pleasure I can't really recall. I started college when my youngest was about 8 months old so I had to get in reading for my classes. Then, as the kids started the pre-school/early elementary school ages, we home schooled, so I read to them a lot, taught them to read, and then we had reading time every day and night.

My kids are all teens now and most of them love to read!! I love that because we talk about books we've read, share books, and introduce each other to new authors and genres.

When my kids were little I waited until nap time. I also read to them a lot. I wanted to pass on my love of reading. My 11 year daughter loves to read autobiographies now. I love reading and going to the library with them. Its one of our bonding moments. But basically any chance I got I would grab a book. It will easier as they get older. :D
