Seriously I sympathize with your situation but I would council against 'tear him a new arse at our bi-annual performance meetings' ... not the place to do it! What I would suggest is when in a cool frame of mind, & armed with factual examples of his biased treatment, ask for a private meeting with your manager and (1) ask him how he feels you are performing in your work and (2) if he has any issues with your work to date. The answer to both queries will undoubtely be a positive endorsement of your performance.
You then go on to outline, giving factual examples, why you feel you are being victimized or undervalued. This puts the ball in his court and obliges him to defend his actions ... it also puts him on notice that you are not a pushover & if, as you say, he is a coward this will probably in itself put the wind up him.
It may be that he is not aware of what he is doing & may be doing what many manager do - taking the easy option in giving preference to and surrounding themselves with 'yes men'. Many immature managers feel threatened by a team member who may be more knowledgeable or competent that they themselves are and they may feel their own position/authority under threat as a consequence.
It's not easy but the most important thing is not to let your anger develop into a personal tirade - stick rigidly to factual work matters & don't allow your view of him as a person to enter the discussion.
That's my two pence for what it's worth - Good luck

But yes, i will get some factual evidence together, even in a diary, as to what i think is his favoritism and then present it to him if the situation doesnt improve in the New Year. He may fall into that immature category who needs the yes men for a boost. I was a yes man but now im a no man!
Thanks for the advice Fran.

I love my job and the work, hence the resentment at this weak man who calls the shots.

I forgot to add ... if all else fails 'Dan your Man' ... he'd fairly sort him with a whack of the hurl.

Wow what the hell is wrong with people, eh. Driving offenses like that would raise my blood pressure sky high, you really have to wonder at the mentality behind adults acting like 3 year olds because they are in a car, bizarre.Mairin wrote:I've got a rant. Then on my 1.5 hour drive back home this idiotic woman was doing 40 on the highway so I go to pass her on the right (because all colorado idiots drive in the left lane going really slow). She sees me speed up and as I turn on my turning signal and start to move over in front of her she speeds up, blares on her horn, throws me the finger and nearly hits my car. So I move back over to the right lane got stuck behind a semi moved back over behind her and she slows back down to 45mph. Boy.... that felt good to rant about that!!!
My own rant: Ireland is the financial laughing stock of the world after we had to go cap in hand to the IMF and beg for help clearing our debt as the lazy articles we voted into Government just shielded the banks and developers that caused the crash in the first place and ensured golden handshakes and fat pensions for the rich and misery and tax hikes for the rest of us. Worst thing is our financial minister is "proud" of the fact that the upcoming severe budget cuts planned in 2 weeks is still Irish and was drawn up before the bailout. Jesus wept......

RTE (our national broadcaster?) cut the feed during the press conference
last night outlining the details of the IMF intervention - unbelieveable. There I was rivetted & wham back to studio discussion ... I thought I'd been beamed to China or North Korea

I'm getting crap from dear mother for the holidays and work, my bro just lost his financial aid for school so I'm getting bull from my mum once again to buy him something for Christmas and talk my dad into buying him an xbox that I "can play with..." Right, let's have me get him something that I get to use... 'cause that will really happen.
I have to go to my other bro's tomorrow night and "bond" with family, they don't want me to take the dog.
I left one of my homework packets at home yesterday so I could only take one test and now I have to take the other one after the break and am behind a credit now.
And I haven't really gotten any sleep in days, have no damn food, borrowed for flippin' shampoo and conditioner/related things, and feel like a damn homeless person...
It doesn't sound that bad, but I'm angry and just can't post the other stuff on here... Which also annoys me.

I do not detect any shake in your writing so clearly you haven't taken my advice vis a vie the Whiskey.Lonestar wrote:My rant du jour is that I'm still battling the cold that I've had for the past week. Today is our Thanksgiving holiday and I'd rather be in better spirits, especially since my little grandniece is visiting.
Miserable to be unwell especially when you are entertaining small persons but Happy Thanksgiving anyway. Hope you feel better soon.

Ran out of whiskey, so Bloody Marys last night to the rescue.
Thank you, dearest Fran. Dinner has come and gone, and all was good. Still putting away leftovers.Fran wrote:Miserable to be unwell especially when you are entertaining small persons but Happy Thanksgiving anyway. Hope you feel better soon.
