I must have watched a different movie ... I didn't get anything about the pro-choice debate in it. I think it was about obsession and the mother's inability to listen to her daughter and also the tremendous love of the sister who was prepared to allow herself to be demonized rather than betray her promise to her sister. IMO it's about the way people can easily confuse love with control.Vickyyadav wrote:The movie never says so, but it's a practical parable about the debate between pro-choice and pro-life. If you're pro-life, you would require Anna to donate her kidney, although there is a chance she could die, and her sister doesn't have a good prognosis. If you're pro-choice, you would support Anna's lawsuit.

The last movie I saw that made me cry was Wizard of Oz. All the tornados coming through made me think of the movie, so I watched it. When I saw that twister headed for Dorothy's house I just thohght "What if that was my house the other night when all those tornado watches were going on?" I cried all the way up until the Munchkins started singing, lol......then I couldn't help but laugh....

The second time I watched it was after one of the most touching and traumatic moments in my life. I took care of an elderly couple who'd just come in. She had sundowners and as I got her ready for bed she started to become agitated and her husband stepped in and in a stern voice told her to calm down that I was going to take good care of her and about how she was the only thing that mattered. She looked at me and started crying, begging me to take care of him, telling him he mattered too. Long story short I was in the middle of the two of them crying and arguing who was more important.
Now I cry whenever I watch the notebook.

Sundowners sounds a lot nicer than Alzheimer's ... it suggests lolling on the varanda in the rocking chair as the sun goes down meditating. Way to goTeesie wrote:Is it another word for Alziemers? Sundowners is a specific complication from Alzheimer's. It refers to the fact that some of people affected with Alzheimer's are fine during the day but become symptimatic when the sun goes down.
I also used to take care of a rather randy Irish fellow. I was working with a girl who was rather bottom heavy and flat chested. Out of nowhere he grabs her bottom and says "all that meat and no potato!!"
