Thanks for the good wishes Mike .... I'm a bit of a miserable patient I'm afraid.

Sorry to hear that Fran. Hope you feel better soon. @ Teesie, weather patterns change. In Texas its been hotter and dryer than it has been for 200 years. Next year you could be roasting. Some say global warming is a myth, some say it isnt. I dont know but weather has been changing back and forth for thousands of years. In the 1870's it was cold and snowy everywhere, Even in Florida. Its something to do with the jet stream moving back and forth.

I'm ranting today about having to take my wife to see the new Twilight movie next week. I guess I'll have to take a good book, but I can't read in low light anymore. Any suggestions?

Download an audio book & plug in the earphones, put on the dark glasses and away you go ... something like War & Peace should take you through a whole series of Twilight

Thanks for the good advice. I'd much rather have Tolstoy than Twilight.

That's funny! I asked my husband to go with me to the new Twilight movie as well because I don't think it will be appropriate for my 12 and 10 year old daughters. They did see the other 3 movies but this one is a bit intense and does have some sex in it I've heard. My husband is going because I asked him and he is a good sport. Plus, it is a "date night"

Mel, I sure hope you aren't going on the opening night or even weekend! Screaming young girls and gross cougars! That would make it even worse I'm afraid. lol, good luck! I'm glad you are being a good sport too!

I've a hell of a pain in my right leg today, think I've pulled a muscle or ligament or something. Really annoying because it's a lovely, sunny, crisp morning here & I can't even go for a walk to clear the head. Got to get to the chemist now to stock up on the Ibuprofen & probably the doc on Monday if things haven't improved.
That's a good point you have there, Fran. Didn't think of it that way. It's still too cold though. I'm just all cranky cause I hate winter whether and it's just getting started here. Of course I'd better get used to it cause if it's anything like last year it'll be down below zero eventually. If it does that I'm not leaving my house!

Cold weather is for the birds, thats for sure. Just throw another log on the fire and curl up with some good books for the winter. :)

I found A24's comments about Twilight quite amusing! My wife resents being labeled as a cougar, although she does enjoy the spectacle of young, lovestruck werewolves walking around with no shirt on!

We went to see it today. I hate to admit it, but the movie was actually halfway interesting. The inclusion of the human/vampire hybrid baby lent an air of mystery to it, because you didn't know exactly what Bella was going to deliver.

My only real rant is that people in the audience seemed to laugh and clap at inappropriate moments, and I didn't get exactly what they were so amused about. Maybe I'm just a tired old fart!

Anyway, I've seen three out of the four Twilight movies, I'm ashamed to say, and this one was by far the best. I still won't stoop to read the books, however.

A review I read said there were more unintended laughs then intended ones and I think most people were laughing at the absurdities - at least that's why I was laughing. The whole honeymoon scene was frankly absurd!

My car is dead. AGAIN!!!!!! I swear the darn thing falls apart every 2 months or so. I think it's pretty much kaputt now, and just in time for Thanksgiving too. Precisely as I expected. Every time there's a holiday or a special event to attend, my car fudges up just in time for me to have to rush around to find a ride to everywhere. Now I can't come and go as I please to and from everybody's houses this Thanksgiving. I have to find somebody to take me there, and leave whenever they are ready whether I am or not, or I'll end up waiting all day for them to be ready and miss out on going somewhere else. And it doesn't help when you're expected to show up at 5 different places to eat in the same day, and usually they all occur at the same time during the day, and if you don't eat at every single place they won't accept that you're just aren't hungry and consider you a rude snobb who won't eat they're cooking. Don't get me wrong, I love Thanksgiving, and can't wait to get my hands on some good ole turkey, rice with gravy, green beans......Yummmmm.....anywhoo.....I'm just upset about my car, and the fact that I can't afford to get a new car until March-ish.....Don't know what I'll do till then........
