I bought an old manual type writer to do my English and Literacy homework on, words like a charm.

I remember my dad's old typewriter. It just clicked and clacked the whole day and sometimes into the night. It was so annoying and just so loud. Then we got a computer and I actually missed the noise from the typewriter.

On another note, I went to a charity fundraising dinner on the weekend that was raising money for the Syria Crisis Appeal, and it was run by students from the three universities we have here. I found out today they managed to raise £43,000 from the night alone! And the majority who attended were students (and I don't mean well-off ones but students who have to take out tuition fee loans and the like). It just amazes me how people can come together for others.

What an amazing story RuqeeD. In a world where we are bombarded with so many negative news stories. It is heart warming to read a positive one. Great effort to everyone involved. :D

Great news, RuqeeD, always nice to hear a story about the kindness of the human spirit, those poor people need all the help they can get.

I think so, this one didn't. I remember my cousin mentioning that he had a ribbon for it, but I think that one was a mechanical.

Just in case people were wondering what this word means, seeing as it pops up on a daily basis here, I have kindly added the official definition to clear up any confusion:

rate/
Noun:
A measure, quantity, or frequency, typically one measured against some other quantity or measure: "the crime rate".
Verb:

Assign a standard or value to (something) according to a particular scale: "we rated the cameras".
Scold (someone) angrily.

Synonyms:
noun. speed - pace - proportion - tariff - price - ratio
verb. appraise - estimate - evaluate - value - assess - reckon

Ahhh Image

Love Terry's Chocolate Orange.

Which reminds me of a song me and a friend made up back in High school for music class. It was all about chocolate, we got a special mention in the school for that song.....wish I could remember how it went now......

I need to vent off some steam... and since none of my friends are out of school yet I'm gonna vent on here. OK so probably all of the people on this site have something that means the world to them, whether it is your kids or something fun you really enjoy. Well I don't have kids so thats not what means the most to me at this time. To me singing in my show choir is really important and since we have contest (competition for choir) in less than a week, I'm stressing out over it. Well first off we don't have our dance finished and all the work i did to create the dance was erased because the one part that was a little more complex caused a few problems. So this morning when we had the class I was basically told my dance sucked and that someone else was taking over. It took all of my strength not to cry at that moment. To add to my frustration most of the class never shows one being my best friend. I was going to give her a ride today but no she wasn't even out of bed yet and last night i told her when i would be at her house to pick her up.
I'm just praying we get this together for contest and then after that I'll stop freaking out over it.

^That seriously sucks Kendra, sorry to hear it. And I think it's completely out of line that they said your dance sucks and someone else is taking over, is it a done deal now or can you protest over it? It doesn't seem fair that you put all your time and effort into it and they say 'nope sorry, we're going with something else.'

Let us know how it gets on and I hope it pulls together in the end for the contest for you.
