I had chicken feet soup not long ago and surprisingly, its pretty good. Its supposed to be very healthy for you. I agree about the crema acida, its the best. I dont make that kind of stuff myself, as Im no good in the kitchen. But I have friends who feel sorry for me and they bring me a plate sometimes of good yummy stuff.

I want to escape to London.
All I watch is British tv anyway.
We're talking about moving there next year. Even looking at apartments online to get the feel of it.
We've been going stir crazy since we moved back from Puerto Rico so we'll see.

Welcome back Laci, you would be most welcome to our fine capitol, although tv isn't a very good reason to come :D
but I hope you come, you'll love it I'm sure.

Ant, of course TVs not a reason to come, I didn't mean it like that. I only meant I doubt I would miss much American tv since I never watch anything American. So in a pathetic way I feel as If I'm halfway there.

The Brits were by far the Friendliest , NICEST, HELPFUL ppl of any other country in our travels abroad............
London is a beautiful city, as are many " suburbs " that we visited.........we extended our itinerary thus, enabling us more time in the Lake District which we fell in love with...

i'm still trying to figure out WHY Americans are always bitching about the food there!

it was nothing short of SUPERB! from pub food, to scrumptious roast beef, the best seafood ever, scones, clotted cream, stilton cheese, etc...PAR EXCELLENCE!.............all the pastries were Soooo yummy too...........

Kippers and eggs .... the perfect breakfast...

Bon Voyage Laci!

You'll have to get used to the sense of humour over here Laci, I'm only joking with you  btw American tv is going great guns at the moment.....Malcolm in the middle, My wife and kids, Scrubs etc, all popular here now, but getting away from the tv thing there are still some great opportunities in and around the London area but rent can be expensive. A bit further away and the prices are more reasonable but I guess that's the same for most capitols around the world. Nice to see you back posting. :D

Oh I'm not worried about the food at all. There's a few things I know not to try (same with American food tbh) but everything else is fine. :)
Even if we dont move there we will vacation there soon and I'm looking forward to it either way. Its still something we're talking about right now. We know we want to move away from the states. London's my first choice. We've been looking at apartments online to see what rent usually goes for there so we're well aware its expensive. A downside definitely but it's still an option right now.
I guess will have to get use to the sense of humour there haha. But I have been working on my English lingo a bit to annoy my other half into giving in. :D

I need to get back to Ireland. I sort of did run away there after I got my BA. I tore up my grad school application, quit everything, and got a gig volunteering in a homeless shelter in Cork, which is my favorite city in the world. I outstayed my visa and had to come home, which has left me a bit heartbroken ever since.

Did you pick up the accent?

I did pick up a bit of an accent, or at least on the unique phrasings and words, mainly because in the homeless shelter the old men had such strong accents and they were the people that I talked to the most. It was also a bit of self defense because in Dublin (and sometimes in Cork), as soon as the cab drivers heard my American accent, they would take the long way round, thinking I wouldn't know the difference.

Have a buddy, Dave who is a "Brummie". Spend any time with him and I immediately lose all ability to pronounce the letter "H"...lol!

Running away?

How about The Bahamas. Can you tell I'm bone weary from the cold and snow? Basking in the 90 degree sun...swimming up to a pool bar. Have a Rum Runner or a frosty Pina Colada. Cross the bridge from Paradise to Nassau. Rent a hack. Stroll the straw market. Maybe later head to the Casino back on Paradise. Catch a live show. Indulge in the buffet beachside while listening to a local steel drum band. It's okay. It comes with the room :)

@ Carla. How about Nassau, indeed. I was there once. You could drink on the beach(we paid $5 for a case of Heinekin,
it was duty free back them). The most popular bar back then was The BoomBoom Room. Once every set they
sang "Yellow Bird", a song about a British girl who has hepatitis. Carla, how do I do it?

FOND MEMORIES of the Bahamas, my daughter's H.S. graduation present. the four of us had a ball..............

considering the Zero degree temps here upon awakening ( a first ) i'd go there or la cote d'azur/French Riviera where we " honeymooned " years before...Monte Carlo and the Palace looked just as they did in the movies...

I kept pinching myself to see if it was all a dream and i'd be waking up soon..." not bad for a girl from the Bronx " I thought....we took a motor trip all along the coast...visited Menton, Grasse, ( perfume center ) Vallauris ( pottery ), of which i'm still sipping my tea and coffee from those exquisitely handmade cups...

I would absolutely love to go to Ireland, not only because of the amazing stories I've heard, but also because I have some Irish in my blood. 8)
