I'm fed up with cold, freezing weather & I absolutely dread driving in frosty weather. I'm praying hard for some normal 'soft' Irish weather
The rumors arent helping either- the Met saying it may continue until February whereas our own Evelyn Cusack reassuring us a thaw may come every night...with her trademark cheery Good Evening as a breezy sign off, yeah its a lovely evening!
Drive safe Fran.

True, Laci, there is always someone worse off than you, but its a funny old world isnt it, i guess when you are used to low wages and poor conditions then you adapt fairly fast because you have nothing to compare it to, so i am very lucky to have regular work and good wages and probably would take a lot longer to adapt to a lower standard of living and i know this deep down. Plenty of poor families are going to have a bad Xmas so my thoughts are with them.laci_baby wrote:Goodness it sounds like Ireland's having a rough time with the pay cuts and weather!!! I agree with you, Mike, the poor always end up paying up the mistakes of the rich. Sadly, I think it's always been that way. Atleast you can be thankful your covered for the holiday season, money wise. I am sorry about your friends though that are having problems with this cut. All we can do is tell ourselves it could be so much worse. We all just have to believe that.

Consider your command taken, the way the roads are here Laci i have no choice but to drive safer but as it is im not a speed racer anyway, never understood the appeal of driving very fast so im as steady as they come.

Wow, 5 degrees, dont get my hopes up Fran or else the sunglasses will be coming out, i havent seen 5 degrees without the minus sign before if for nearly 2 wks now! Im just hoping that we dont get it as bad in January next yr. Hopefully the really arctic conditions are fading away.Fran wrote:Mike ... we should have had this rant a week or two ago. It's positively balmy here on the West Coast this evening - 5C on my car an hour ago when I got home from work - so it will probably make its way to the 'sunny south East' over the next few hours.

Dearest, I may just help make up for that tonight. I've already started into my Bloody Marys, before dinner.Fran wrote:We Irish are really pissed at the moment (and not from drink this time)...

The reason being...I ordered a package [four, actually] of screws for a project at work, from a local industrial supplier. The first of the four arrived, and it was the wrong item. I canceled the order; being that the project [a ratchet wrench, or spanner] was pretty much dumped into my department's laps and is perilously close to deadline; and the store couldn't get the replacements in before next week.
What has me ripped is that the charges for the merchandise, made with my personal debit card, haven't been reversed yet. This is the age of immense connectivity via the Internet, especially for business. Are you telling me that a bank-account withdrawal cannot be restored within 24 hours? Puhleeze.

She sounds a right cow, Laci, the cheek of her to ram her cart into you. I hate it when people just glare as if its your fault the line is slow and then stand so close to you that they invade your space and dont even realise they are doing it, its my pet hate and takes a lot of restraint not to turn around and breathe all over them while saying "Am i close enough or do you want me to stand closer". Dont feel too bad Laci, she needed some manners in her. I hope you dont let this color your view of the holidays. Once you are wrapped up in front of the fire on Xmas Day, you will love it im surelaci_baby wrote:Uh! I hate the Christmas season! Everyone's cranky and in a rush which leads them to being rude! Some lady friggin rammed her cart into the back of my leg's today because i was standing in line in Wal-Mart and she wanted the line to go faster. I turned and looked at her and she just glared at me so i let it go and figured she didn't mean to. Oh no! She hit me again harder. I turned and looked at her and was all "Excuse me! If you want in this line you're going to have to be a little patient. It is the Christmas season, you know?!" She said i was a disrespectful young lady and rammed me with her cart again. So... i played frontsie's with another customer {Letting them in front of me in line}. I atleast deserved being rammed after that. She got mad, told a CSM {CustomerServiceManager} and when the manager said there was nothing he could do, not only did she lose her place in line... but she ended up 6 people behind me after that. I felt pretty bad that she ended up farther down the line, but come on! Did she really have to act lke that? I'm sorry, believe it or not, i was raised to respect my elders, and i always have, but if your going to act all holier than thou and be rude to people then you can sit your rear at the back of the line with the rest of the impatient people. Everyone has to stand in line at some point and no one likes it. Why make it more miserable on other people, and yourself, by acting like a four year old?! I even would have let her in front of me if she wasn't being all cranky about having to stand in line. But oh no she had to be all stupid about it.... and i have a bruise! Grrr....

Though just for kicks depending on my mood, I would have been a pain in the arse and leaned against her cart and let the line go pretty far before I moved up on top of letting people cut.
But right on ya, good going.
I know it's pretty trivial, but it bugs the crappers out of me.
I'm over here concussed, sore everywhere, and can't really use my right arm and am cleaning. My older bro, capable, won't even finish cleaning the bathtub like I told him 3 days prior, on top of telling him 5 days before that to clean the bathroom. He did a half assed job at that after finally "cleaning" it, and I ended up bending down in there to scrub it. So my arm and head are killing me especially, and of course he just leaves to go off with his girlfriend leaving me to her the brunt of the yelling from my mum about the house... He thinks he gets to leave scotch free because he organized one little corner of our room, which is really just putting his wallet and accessories stuff in a drawer... Dickwad.

I can relate... Except I know for damn sure it's not as cold here as it is there, but with my bad knee affected by the weather, I just randomly go 'click' and fall to the soggy ground... And all of these sudden hot to cold weather changes around here make my mood go haywire, and I just get depressed and can't work no matter how hard I try to focus. Then on top of it, I got one heck of a concussion Sunday and I still have a freaking headache! It makes concentrating on school work that much more difficult. I've gotten perhaps 1 page of 34 done this week...I don't even know where to start. I must finish my thesis till Sunday and I am already so fed up with it. I have no time for other things and I want it over Crying or Very sad I missed couple of my Spanish and Russian classes because of it and I now don't know what's going on with all the new grammar. I don't have time to read what I want to because I must read all these books about money laundering, articles about it, directives and whatver documents there are on this topic. I don't even have time to sleep Sad I'm so tired. And it's so freezing cold outside and I must move my butt to the library (for money laundering connected articles, nothing pleasant Confused ). Ugh.
And Loney, as much as that really sucks because you do work hard, I'd still take it because I have no job haha.

And Fasist, when the deadline gets closer, I'm sure you'll be writing your school work faster
