I remember the Lassie movies, Ive seen them all. The first two were the best, Lassie Come Home and The Son of Lassie.Buttons wrote:Animal movies always make me cry~for I love animals so I would have to say "Free Willy" 1,2 & 3. Not to mention if anyone remembers the good ol' classic "Lassie come home" movies.

"Gladiator" with Russell Crowe got me a little choked up too. After all he had been through, it was a shame to witness the death of a good man. I suppose the intermittent scenes of the Elysian Fields were meant to symbolize that death is never far away from us mortals.
"Life Is Beautiful" was emotional for me too.
It is in Italian with English subtitles, but the story it tells is good.
The main character is full of life, makes the most of a bad situation, even keeps a sense of humor, but it all quickly ends with a shot (we don't even see it happen). The world became poorer because of his absence.
"Saving Private Ryan"
At the very end, when he returns to France with his children and grandchildren, it made me wonder how it felt to go back to where so many intense emotional experiences were developed. It must have been awesome.

Films that have surprised me because I didn't think I would cry whilst watching would be Marley & Me. I like dogs in a sort of distant way so I didn't think the movie was going to hit me like it did but I was sobbing!

Okay, I admit it. Marley & Me got me going. As did A Single Man, and Into The Wild affected me so much I was still crying in the parking lot outside the theater. Oh, and Requiem for a Dream, of course....and The Devil's Rejects. Yep, I did. Right in the theater. My girlfriend was horrified.

I think all I've seen is the short (?) that they show on Off Beat Cinema for Christmas every year...The Ragdoll? Something like that? Whatever the title, it's beautiful.Bighuey wrote:Thats cool. I saw him in person in Las Vegas, I never laughed so hard in my life. He was one of a kind.

I am the say way. Whenever I see a movie where an animal dies, particularly if they are trying to save a human, or it is a human's fault... I just loose it. Like watching Rise of the Planet of the Apes was just so painful for me, and I never hated humanity so much.Buttons wrote:Animal movies always make me cry~for I love animals so I would have to say "Free Willy" 1,2 & 3. Not to mention if anyone remembers the good ol' classic "Lassie come home" movies. AND "Hachi" OMG I cried for the longest time during this movie for it was a true story. Hachi's unconditional love for his master will never be forgotten. A MUST see if you have not seen this movie. (P.S. have a box of kleenex on hand.)
I also cry when things get too happy. When parents are reunited with their children, when someone his almost dead, but suddenly comes back to life, etc.
So since, there is either an animal dying or someone exceedingly happy in 90% of films, I basically cry during the majority of movies, haha.

Yeah! That sounds right. The one where he's ice-skating with a lifesize ragdoll.Bighuey wrote:Is that the Freddy The Freeloader one? friend Nick(Christopher Waulken) who died in Vietnam. They're sitting around a table and they're all still
stunned. Nobody knows what to say. One of the actors starts singing "God Bless America" to himself. The
rest of the actors join in and their rendition touches my heart. I cried in the theater where I first saw the
movie with my wife. And I cried all the way home.
