If you could choose what would you most want to be.

If you could choose, what would you want to be know as...

A great painter
A great musician
A great writer
A great architect
A great sculptor
A great Poet

...and why?

When I say great I mean hundreds of years from now people still recognize your art.

When you're grateful to them for giving you the things you should already have anyway, ask yourself why."

A great writer. I would think the reason quite obvious. I love books, they are my favourite hobby in the world. If I could become a famous writer and help people to enjoy themselves with my books than I would be a happy man.

Probably a great architect as my work could stand for centuries admired by all the cultures who pass through, whereas music and even books may not last quite as long. :D

An explorer of the galaxy. I always wanted to know what was out there.

@Gannon
They sure are, the quote was an instinctive reaction to SKM's construction ambitions! :) As to the poet I happen to think it is a beautiful, gentle and intelligent profile ... wonder what moisturiser he used :lol:

I always thought guys from that era would be kind of weathered looking. They had to use outdoor crappers, get all tough and musclely from cutting and hauling firewood, fighting Indians, stuff like that.

I don't know about a 100 years from now. But, my art has been nationally and internationally recognized. I worked with Cirque in Vegas, Had my art on the TV series Heroes. I get emails from people from Norway, Japan, etc that purchase my work or even 'recognize my style.' That is pretty cool. But, if I don't value and love my art.. well, who cares? It can feel fleeting an empty if your art is only supported by others perception. And varies constantly.

For me, as long as I value and love what I create that is primary and key. Worked in the fine arts, performing and visual for 20 years. Toured Europe, etc. Written for stage.. Thing is.. Over the years I learned is.. I will always create. Regardless. There will always be someone who doesn't like your work, or think you are great. Do you honor and value it? I do. That's why I kept at it. The 'value' from others is icing on the cake, and rewards. But, the best reward is the journey as an artist. Whether that be a writer, painter, etc.

In my next life I would love to be an Architect. Or installation artist. These are two forms of art that I dearly love. Some of my favorite 'artists' fall in this category.
