April Fool's Day

Post by RuqeeD »

We all must have either pulled pranks or got fooled on this day..........so share it with the rest!

When I was a kid, did the standard stuff, switching things around (salt and sugar, yellow food colouring around the...uh hmm toilet seat (that was my brother's idea, i just gave him access to the food colouring) etc etc. Those things were just hilarious when your a kid.

Today my mum told me she was going abroad for a few weeks and I had to take care of my dad (who needs help from time to time getting around the house) so immediately I started thinking of my working hours, where I could cut back, if I could ask my boss if I could come in later or perhaps only do four days a week and generally getting flustered - so I got back to my mum and told her I worked out a schedule. She just looked at me a little bemused and said 'What day is it today?' I was like 'Uh April 1st.....Ohhhhh' thanks a lot mum.

LOL. I didn't have any physical pranks played on me this year but I did receive an email which really got me going.

The Australian Koala Foundation sent members an official bulletin, with photograph, of the first Koala to be launched into outer space.

It headlined NASA Sends First Koala Into Space and read "NASA has announced its newest recruit this morning. Rodney the Koala will join the ISS team on April 1. Rodney is following three former Australian astronauts Philip K. Chapman, Paul Scully-Power and Andy Thomas and will be the first Queensland member in space. 'NASA is always looking for innovative ways to improve living in space and of course we are looking to secure our future by settling on other planets,' says a NASA spokesperson.
Deborah Tabart OAM, CEO of the Australian Koala Foundation is thrilled about Rodney´s journey. She said 'The AKF is more than happy to collaborate with NASA. This is the right step towards a new and hopefully more sustainable future for our wildlife Koalas. This program gives me hope that our beloved Koalas can survive. Goodness knows trees are almost impossible to protect on this planet.'

Would love to know what repercussions followed that announcement!
