are there any teens here??

hey..
im 17 and i was wondurring if there are any teens in this place??
i like to read like, teen books..(chick flicks) but as a book..anyone there who shears that interest with me??
im currently writing a book (a teen, going to school, falling in love, and stuff like that)..

ha im 17 too but i dont only read like "teen books." but i bet since u do u've read Sloppy Firsts which i actually thought was decent (being a girl and 17- i don't recommend it if u dont fall into those catergories) Anyway I want to write too but its a pretty daunting task...thats why I'm going to go to school for writing as sort a foundation.
but yea look at that kids in highschool do read! who would have thought?!

I am sort of a teen. Well, actually, I am a teen since I am eighteen. However, I do not share the same interest in Teen Books as you do.

I do share the writing interest though. My main goal since I was in middle school has been to become a writer. I continue and will continue to work my way to becoming better and better. My main goal is to become one of the greatest writers in history. Maybe a little arrogant...conceited...and overly ambitious...but, that's my goal. I haven't really tried to write a book because I'm not really in the stage of writing books since there's too much for me to learn to include in my works. Right now I focus on writing poetry, short stories, and essays/articles dealing with politics, philosophy, and life in general.

I'm 16. but i dont really care for books like that. i like writing though. i write a lot of short stories and I'm interested in publishing a book sometime when i'm older.

no one i kno wants to be a writer its werid that like everyone on here does. I definetly do so i plan to go to college for creative writing in the fall...let me tell u how anoying it is to find schools with creative writing majors. any of u thinking of schools u'd like to go to?

There are around four or five schools I've been planning on going to. Though, I'm not majoring in Creative Writing since I sort of like to keep that as my individual development without educational help from anywhere (except english courses to help me further my grammar skills, vocabulary, and ect.) My major will probably be History...but I'd also like major in Philosophy at some time too..maybe get my Ph.D. in both.

My four schools so far are: Lee University, University of Memphis, Maryville College, University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, and...well...maybe a school in Wisconsin or North Carolina depending on if I stay here in Tennessee or not.

im writing a book , and i have all the ideas in my head but im 2 lazy to write them down on the computer..thats why its taking me soooooo long to finish it..i came up with plot about a year ago or so..

ha well im all about the writing I applied to schools with writing majors like Bard, Fordham, Binghamton, Sarah Lawrence, Ithaca, and Emerson. All of them are in NY except Emerson which is in boston.

I'm 16, 17 in 9 days. Yay. I've read sloppy firsts and the other two in that series, they were good. I havn't really read an teen lit/chick lit stuff for a while though. Am reading more drama type stuff that makes you think more. Like Chuck Palahniuk and stuff similar to that.

But if you guys are seriously interested in becoming writers a wonderful program to try and get into is an honors program at the University of California, Santa Barbara. College of Creative Studies, Literature. They don't let many people in each year, only like 10-15, sometimes less, but you get to have lit. symposiums with published authors, tightly knit writing groups, I met Pulitzer and Nobel Prize winning authors... I could go on and on. It was amazing and beautiful. I would look into it- no where else lets you do that kind of work. I told my teachers what I wanted to do for a class, and I did it on my own, checked in with them once a week, and got credit for it.

Just a thought...

Careful when you limit yourself to one audience... a very wide audience it may be, but easily outgrown. RL Stein, one of my favorite authors, markets to young audiences. R.L. Stein is best known for Goosebumps, but has since fallen a little beneath the surface. Currently Stein writes highschool / teen horror novels.

I want to write as well. I chose Broadcasting for my major because I originally wanted to write screenplays and scripts for TV shows. I've since decided against that as I'd prefer to have a family and be a mom and not have to travel. I selected English as my minor because I thought it would help with my wanting to write a novel. Too bad my adviser screwed up. I should have done Creative Writing as my minor, not English. Some universities have English classes that are about writing while others have the whole Creative Writing thing separate. I wish my adviser had known mine was one of them. Oh well, at least being an English minor was still cool. I got to read some great books, but I didn't get to do as much creative writing as I would have liked.

Actually, I was writing before I knew how to write. When I was really little I would walk up to my mom and tell her, "I have a great idea for a book. Write this down." I would dictate my stories to her. She still has all the stories I wrote from before I could write in our basement.

I'd love to get a book published too - it only has to be one. It's just one of those things that i want to do before I die (along with sky-diving, world trip, learning swing dancing .............there's heaps!)

I have you all beat! I'm 15 (16 in two days). I don't like 'teen books'; I'm more of a classics reader although I'm also a bit omnivorous when it comes to reading in general. I want to be the next Voltaire as far as writing goes

. I still can't believe how much he wrote in his lifetime!
