I saw this on another forum. Most movie remakes are crap, but are there any you would like to see remade if they could do a decent job of it? For me it would be King Solomons Mines. The 1950 version was very good, but didnt follow the story that well. The remake with Richard Chamberlain was stupid. H. Rider Haggards original story is epic, and with the technology today it would make a great movie it its done right. What say You?

I would love to see a remake of "Spartacus" or "Ben Hur", because of (anybody who knows me now will know) the Ancient Rome settings.

Ben Hur would be a good one, but it would be hard to top the original.

Another one would be When Worlds Collide and combine it with the sequel, After Worlds Collide.

You are so right BH, I have posted before that the Chariot racing scene is probably my favourite scene ever.

I dont think they could ever top Ben-Hur. Thats about as close to the perfect movie there is.

Another one I would like to see a good remake of are the Dr. Kildare movies.But I dont know who they would get to cast as Dr. Gillespie, Lionel Barrymore would be hard to come up to. Maybe Hugh Laurie from House would be good.

I'd like to see a remake of some of the Alfred Hitchcock films like "Dial M for Murder" and "The Man who Knew too Much" or maybe a remake of some of the old spaghetti westerns like "They Call me Trinity."

They Call Me Trinity. Thats one of my favorites. I dont think they could ever top the original.

Probably not. The actor who played Trinity (Terrence Hill) was pretty unique. Loved the music in those films, especially the music in 'My Name is Nobody.' I tracked those films down on DVD, but my kids didn't seem to enjoy them as much as me. Go figure.

Terrence Hill was unique. That part in My Name is Nobody where he caught the fish is classic. We first saw the movie at a drive-in and the part where he was telling the story about the bird being dumped on by the cow had my wife and I laughing so hard we were in tears.

I found DVD's of both those movies at a dollar store, they were even in letterbox. I still watch them every so often.

At the dollar store?! Oh, man, I was robbed.

If I remember right I believe it was Family Dollar in their dollar DVD section. Ive found a lot of good ones there.

I saw a movie not long ago called American Warships. It had a very good story to it that could be relevant to these times. Its about North Korea seemingly sending missles into South Korea, but it turned out to be something quite different. The problem with this movie, it was made by what seemed to be a bunch of amatuers. Lousy acting and script and dialogue, cheezy special effects, it must have been made by some poverty row studio. I would like to see it made into a high budget movie by real professionals, this could be one great film.
