Your guess was as good as anything I can come up with. This is a tough riddle, but that's what makes it fun. I am pretty much at a loss for a guess at this point. I really thought the Quasimodo guess was going to solve it and was somewhat surprised when it didn't. Gravy is getting tricky on us it seems *LOL* It will probably be one of those simple answers that we overcomplicate.Lunastella wrote: ↑14 Jan 2022, 23:19 Honestly, I just based my answer on the Frankenstein castle and the weird walk and hoped for the best, DATo .

It's a tough one, and initially, I thought that the riddle is about a real person.
But the hint 'I am a well known character.' eliminates that possibility.
And the clue 'It's very likely you've heard of me, but it's just as likely that you've heard me.' makes me think that it's a singer. Perhaps, a fictional singer in a movie.

1) The ring can be heard to talk at times
2) Travelers - the Fellowship who travel to Mt. Doom
3) Unusual walking posture - Gollum, transformed from Hobbit to creature who walks on all fours

A well known character.
A singer.
Is it Gaston from Beauty and the Beast?
Joker maybe?
Good riddle @Gravy!

Not the Joker, or wolves/a wolf, or Wolverine, or any of DATo's guesses ( ).
Hint:
While I have an actual name, I'm usually referred to by something else.

Wasn't he sort of a villain at first? I am not much into batman lore.
Can't reconcile the "walk" part with this though.
Where the "walk" is concerned I've considered Elvis, Long John Silver (wooden leg and walking the plank) and maybe some pharaoh as in "Walk like an Egyptian." Then there's "walking in outer space" too. There is also the possibility of "walk" as meaning a way of life as in "walk the path of Buddha" or something. Totally lost on the walk element of the clues.

As a refresher:
- While I'm often romanticized, I was originally a villain.
- My home is well known and is very popular with travelers.
- It's very likely you've heard of me, but it's just as likely that you've heard me.
- I inspire an unusual walking posture.
- The unusual walk is not something I do, but something I am the cause of.
- I am a well known character.
- While I have an actual name, I'm usually referred to by something else.
A real event helped to inspire my story.
I have a penchant for writing letters.
