Trying to remember the name of a book

My friend has been trying to remember the name of a book that she read approximately 10 years ago. The details that she can remember are that it is a series of books, in which two girls visit a cabin in the woods and get transported to another world during a lightning storm. They work to find their way back home from this other world and get separated from each other. They then live completely separate lives from on another while trying to find each other and their way back home. I know it's pretty vague, but any help would be appreciated.
