I saw this in a news letter I get where some scientist in a university claimed that humans are a hybrid race, a cross between chimpanzies and pigs. With some people I can believe it. What tickled you today? It could be a news item or something you saw or experienced. What say you?

Watched a squirrel spin round on the base of my bird feeding station this morning, little blighter was trying to get the bird seed. It was hilarious, it has a section at the bottom which spins round when a squirrel gets on, it was a fat bugger as well and it had to give up in the end.

My dog. She hates to stay in the house, I only let her out for bathroom privleges and dont let her stay out too long at a time. Thats because she is small and worth a lot of money, and I worry about someone taking her. She tries to hide from me when I go to bring her in, behind a bush or in my grapevines, in the bamboo shoots or somewhere where she thinks I cant find her. She found a new hiding place. She goes in a corner of the yard behind a large cactus plant where I cant get to her. Its a riot trying to get the little turkey to come out. Dog treats work so far, but she may soon wise up to that trick. Shes no dummy.

My dingbat friend. She was here today looking at some DVD's I have. I keep them in those paper envelopes to save space, the ones with the clear round window. She was looking at them and said theres no labels on some of these. I told her to turn them over, they were in upside down with the labels on the solid side of the folder. She said oh I never thought of that. Nice lady, but kind of screwy.

LOL. That's awesome!!

My boyfriend fell asleep on the couch watching TV. While he was sleeping, I could hear some news segment talking about Dom Perignon being served in a certain venue at an event in Tokyo (not 100% sure what was going on... it was in Japanese, and I was just overhearing from the next room). He just woke up and claimed he was dreaming about drinking Dom Perignon. For some reason, I couldn't stop laughing. He claims to have no memory of what was on TV...

A song I just heard. An old hillbilly song called Put a Little Sugar In Your Shoe To Keep Your Shirt Tail In. One of those that dosent make a bit of sense, but funny.

The all-too-obvious, yet almost universally overlooked fact that the ampersand looks like a guy dragging his butt across the floor.

Ann Patchett's letter to New York Times in response to a missing comma - brilliant!

Puppy Love
To the Editor:
I was grateful to see my book “This Is the Story of a Happy Marriage” mentioned in Paperback Row (Oct. 19). When highlighting a few of the essays in the collection, the review mentions topics ranging from “her stabilizing second marriage to her beloved dog” without benefit of comma, thus giving the impression that Sparky and I are hitched. While my love for my dog is deep, he married a dog named Maggie at Parnassus Books last summer as part of a successful fund-raiser for the Nashville Humane Association. I am married to Karl VanDevender. We are all very happy in our respective unions.

The liver complaint story I just heard by Thomas Edison. Kind of stupid, but funny in a homespun sort of way. A guy hitches up a team and goes to California and finds a warm spring that cures him of his liver complaint. He opens up a sanitarium for liver complaint and becomes world famous for curing liver complaint. When he died, at the coroners inquest they had to take his liver out and kill it with a club.

I just saw a news item that on this day in 1993 the longest peanut butter and jelly sandwich was made. It was 40 feet long, had 150 pounds of peanut butter and 50 pounds of jelly. That would last me a day or two.
