I would say more along the lines of "Happy Holidays to All". I'm not an observant Jew and my hubby is lapsed Catholic so we do Christmas...considering an LED menorah, open flames invite the cats to light themselves up. In any case I will not be ready for the present holidays until possibly late March.

I'm not kidding about candles by the by. When we had the blackout during Sandy I had a large jar candle lit on the kitchen counter. After stepping back in the room I thought the candle had snuffed out on it's own. A closer look revealed Chii the tuxedo blocking the flame.

"Hum, I smell scorched fur and it's getting a little warm in here" Get away the candles you moron cat...

Have a Wonderful Season and a Very Happy New Year Everybody!!!!!!!!!!!

Dato, I can believe it. Wishing someone Merry Christmas these days is treated like a crime. But what the hell, Merry Christmas everyone!

Weird, I can't feature why saying Merry Christmas is a big deal one way or another...remarkable though all the decorative stuff out there...feel like asking some of these people how much holiday crap do you really NEED?

Yes, but you have powers which are not of this earth. I picture you in a super-hero costume with a big R on your chest for "reader".

I'm sure this has nothing to do with Scott being politically correct or anything but rather the database program is filtering titles for redundancy which is both understandable and very frustrating at times.

Did you happen to check out the link in my OP? I saw this the other day and it blew me away. The group (Pentatonix) consists of male/female, Italian, Nordic, Hispanic, African-American and Jewish. This group serves as an object lesson for racists, bigots and those who harbor gender bias that when you create a diverse mix of people working for the same goals magic happens. The racial mix is incidental to the video but what a great message it delivers of the true meaning of Christmas.

While not favouring the ye olde English word 'merry', I wish everyone a happy, safe and peaceful Christmas.

By its very name, Christmas, we know it's Christianity but think of all the other wonderful celebrations around the world. I don't cry 'bah humbug' when someone says Christmas, Hanukkah, Yuletide, Hogmanay, Kwanzaa, Sinterklaas
or a myriad other names used to celebrate this time of year.

And don't forget that in Australia we celebrate 25th December in hot weather which necessitates shorts and t-shirt, a barbecue, cold drinks and salad rather than the 'traditional' festivities of other countries. Although that doesn't stop us from gobbling plum pudding and brandy sauce!

LOVE THAT AVATAR MAUDIE !!!!

I wonder what Richard Dawkins does for the holidays? I don't know why but I have been obsessed with that question lately.

Forget the political correctness - December 25th is Christmas (and always has been) so as one who celebrates Christmas and the birth of Christ - I say MERRY CHRISTMAS!

You are so sensible as always. I'd be equally pleased if someone were to wish me a Happy, or indeed a Merry, Hanukkah, Yuletide, Hogmanay, Kwanzaa, Sinterklaas, Ramadan, Mid-winter Day, World Agnostic Day, Egg Nogg Day or anyother good wish greeting. When is it ever not nice to be wished Joy and happiness whatever the occasion?
The only one that really annoys me is Happy Crimbo!
Love the seasonal avatar - cute guy :)

@DATo
That is probably my absolute favourite Xmas carol & the thinking behind that link says it all.
Wish I knew why you had a problem setting up a Merry Christmas topic - I somehow doubt Scott has gone all PC on us.
Richard Dawkins ... now there's a question to ponder. Bet he tucks into the Turkey & Ham regardless.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS GIFT WHEN YOU WERE A KID?

I got a Gilbert chemistry set when I was 10 which I had been praying for desperately. I made invisible ink and did my homework with it. When I turned in a blank sheet of paper the nun wanted to know what I was up to so I held it up in front of an incandescent light and the words appeared for her to see. She was not amused - pulled me over to my desk by my hair and tied me up in my desk with a ball of yarn. Which just goes to prove that science and religion do not mix.

I had a Gilbert Chemistry set, too. They were a lot of fun. I never tried to make invisible ink that I remember, but I made some stuff that smelled like rotten eggs. My parents wernt too happy about that.

But I think my favorite present was a Hercules 3-speed bicycle when I was about 12 or so. It didnt last long, tho. I soon found you couldnt jump curbs, ride it as fast as you could over home-made ramps and go sailing through the air, stuff like that. It went to peices after a couple months. My old J.C. Higgins bike was more suited for the rough stuff that 12 year olds like to do.
