Killing insects, as a weapon, etc. were some of the things covered in another thread ( " Did you ever use a book as a Weapon ?)...

Too add to this " silliness ".. :P .of average height, living in a house of very high ceilings, i've used books as a step stool to change light bulbs...

The Manhattan Yellow and white pages, phone directory
The Larousse Gastronomique

Craft projects from old /damaged books...
Papier Mache and Decoupage..........good way to utilize magazines too..

How about you ?

I've made a hedgehog out of a telephone directory.

I have used books before to hold up my bed. My bed broke on one side, so to hold it up we put big heavy hardcover books to keep it up. We had to do that for a couple of days until we could get it fixed. The books were fine after of course. I was worried for the books.

A slim paperback is the answer for a table with a dodgy leg.

Jolijt - that hegdehog is very cute - what a great recycling of an old telephone book! :D

I have used thick books to flatten rolled up posters before attaching them to wall.

and have used shredded pages from books like old telephone books for composting material.

I had one of those early pop-top VCR's, the catch was broken to hold the top down so I but a heavy dictionary on it. It worked OK.

Jolijt , it looks great!

I just use it for reading... I can't abide damaging my books by putting them to other uses.

I have definitely used books as weapons before towards another human and bugs mainly spiders. I hate spiders! But it is usually a book I'm not fond of. I don't want to mess up my good books. Haha. :D I've also used old booms for crafts but not often.
