Speed Reading

When I was in high school, I took a speed reading class. Upon completion of the
class, I noticed that my level of comprehension as well as the rate at which I was
reading books was increased substantially. For both fiction and non-fiction books.
For other kinds of reading, such as poetry, the speed reading class provided no such
benefit. During and after the coarse, I was concerned that speed reading might
hinder my enjoyment of what I read. But that never proved to be the case. So what I'm
asking is, for other members of the club who are speed readers: Has it been an experience you'd recommend to others? For myself, I say yes, unequivocally.
