The story of your life

This is a weird, but interesting topic that I thought of doing. We all love reading stories, but each of us is living their own story, so I thought why don't we try and write a chapter of a story, describing a scene that we are in right now. Look around where you are, describe the weather, your surroundings, your mood and anything else you find interesting that would fit in a starting paragraph of a story.

Here is mine:

The tree branches swung lazily in the slight breeze outside the window, and the sky was a murky grey. The type of weather that seemed to make everyone sleepy and listless. She sat up in bed with her laptop perched on her thighs, and the brown blanket pulled up to the waist. Next to her, writing notes and chewing gum irritatingly, was her sister. She sighed at the monotonous sound that always drove her crazy.

Okay, I am really rubbish at writing, but I'm sure the rest of you will come up with something interesting...

I am definetly no writer, but why not? Here goes. It was a cool, somewhat windy day. The ocean breeze felt good after a spell of hot, muggy weather. He was sitting in front of the computer, sipping on a cool mango drink just web surfing and not finding anything especially interesting was about to turn it off. He suddenly heard his dog barking like crazy. He got up and went out to see what would make the dog act like that and what he saw made his blood chill.

Not exactly Dickens or Shakespeare, is it.

With eyes black and pendulous, he stared at the laptop screen. The inspiration would not come. Only the smell of beefy crisps made its way to his nose, and the faint hum of the laptop made him sleepy. The cat, which lay on the bed beside him, gave him a contemptuous look and turned away. Outside the moon hung low and bright, with now and then the tweet of a bird carried in through the window by a cool winter breeze. At last he had an idea.

(Seriously, my cat is such a bed hog :D)

"She stood at the front of the room with all twenty set of eyes on her. With a smile, she pressed the button on the CD player, and music immediately filled the room. Then she began dancing around the room like a monkey as she sang along to the Wiggles for the fiftieth time that week. 'Tis the life of a preschool teacher."

Okay, yeah, that's just me being silly.
