And the decades(s) don't have to be ones that you've lived through. I like the 1960s for the music and the 1970s for the tv shows, and miniseries.

I love vintage, so the 1920s and 30s Art Deco would be the decades for me. I loved the 80's as well, so many wonderful events happened during that decade as well.

Oh, I'm all about the '80's. I was two to twelve years old during that decade. It was just rad. Murder, She Wrote, The Breakfast Club, Tears for Fears, Dire Straits, Hall & Oates, Avonlea (TV show that started in '89, I think), watching old movies on Disney like Son of Flubber and Hayley Mills, Nintendo--Mario and Duck Hunt, Atari games, board games like Head of the Class. It was about more than bad perms, people. There were mullets!

And high tops! and the moonwalk! Billie Jean--she's not my lover. She's just a girl who thinks that I am the one. But the kid is not my son. THRILLER! Thriller night.

-- 08 Jun 2015, 23:45 --

Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, Ghostbusters II, my scented diary, no modern technology, a new baby sister...

-- 08 Jun 2015, 23:47 --

Gremlins, my brother's flat-top haircut, hightop shoes, alien abductions, Children of the Corn...

-- 08 Jun 2015, 23:48 --

Mom jeans, corduroy pants, sweatshirts, leggings, school holiday parties, climbing Pine Mountain...

-- 08 Jun 2015, 23:49 --

Monsters under the bed, my first dog Allister, reading those Scholastic paperbacks, Highlights magazine, my new bedroom with the twin beds...

-- 08 Jun 2015, 23:51 --

Milli Vanilli, Bon Jovi, MC Hammer, AEROSMITH!! Dream on! OMG... Janie's gotta gun... no idea what she's done... what did her daddy do?

-- 08 Jun 2015, 23:51 --

They say when Janie got arrested, they found him underneath a train...

-- 08 Jun 2015, 23:52 --

But man he had it comin', now that Janie's got a gun, she's never gonna be the sa--aa--aa--aame! RUN AWAY! Run away from the pain. Yeah, yeah, yeah..

-- 08 Jun 2015, 23:54 --

The Bangles--Eternal Flame.

-- 08 Jun 2015, 23:55 --

On the wings of love! Up and above the clouds, the only way to fly-y-y-y.. is on the wings of love.

-- 08 Jun 2015, 23:56 --

Hotel California--such a lovely place. Gimme a room there.

I adore the 1890's I will read almost anything set then. I also love the post war era 1915-1920 era. The 20's of course. I don't know why but the south in the 1930's has always been a favorite of mine. Anything past 1969 is not my cup of tea.

Lol. Not sure you got your point across. What's your favorite decade? :icon-lol:

The 80s rocked. I was 4-14 during that radical decade.

I would love to be alive in the time of Jane Austen, late 18th century, early 19th century... but beyond that I also wouldn't mind being alive in the 20's. I'd presume I would be a flapper.

Oh yes, you took me back with all those songs! Do you know how long it's been since I've heard "On The Wings of Love"? :)

Also, Cabbage Patch Kids, E.T. (my dad had to leave the theater with me because of my incosolable crying), The Goonies, Madonna, jelly bracelets, Alf, Reading Rainbow, the California Raisins, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, Double Dare, Tiffany, The Smurfs, and oh NKOTB (they still ROCK!).

Funny thing, my husband was an 80s child as well and every once in a while for family movie night, we bust out an 80s movie to make our daughters watch......and they love them. They've seen The Goonies, Gremlins, E.T., The Karate Kid. We also own DVD sets of Full House and The Wonder Years. It's really about teaching your kids the important things in life.....:)

:text-goodpost:

Your first line cracked me up.

And thanks for adding all those other memories!! Jelly bracelets... jelly shoes! OMG! My older cousin had a pair of jelly shoes and I was so envious!

Double Dare!! The host had severe OCD, and getting covered with goop was torment for him!! :o How do I remember knowing that!!

Bless your little heart about ET, but that movie always creeped me out too--I think the part with the freakin' tunnels!!

I loved your post!!

LOL, I never knew that about the Double Dare host! He must have hidden it well.....or else my child's mind didn't pay any attention to his discomfort. Embarrassingly, my sister and I used to spend hours practicing all sorts of weird stunts in the event we ever teamed up and got to appear on DD. Alas, 'twas not to be.

Remember the final Double Dare round when they had to find a flag in that gigantic, disgusting nose?

HA HA HA! I do just barely recall that, yes! Oh, geez, that's too bad that you and your sister never made it on to the show! :scared-eek: Do you remember Are You Afraid of the Dark? My sister and I used to love that one!!

I'm sure if we had made it to Double Dare, we would have royally sucked. It's probably best to leave to just imagine we would have kicked butt.

I do remember Are You Afraid of the Dark? Wow, flashback! Haven't thought of that show in, well, decades.
