What path lead you to join the Online Book Club? I know most of us probably didn't wake and say, "I MUST JOIN THE ONLINE BOOK CLUB, IT IS MY DESTINY!!" If you did, go you! I am one of the ones who did not, however. I woke up this morning as far as I knew, jobless; then received an email from the directors at a school I interviewed at offering me a part-time position at their school. Living on my own, having to pay rent from September to December on part-time pay. So I need something to help supplement me, so I don't starve.I love teaching, and I also love reading, I googled paid book review and would you lookie what I found? This book club! How awesome would it be to feed both my passions? Totally freaking amazing right?! So bam that's why I'm here. Why are YOU here?

Honestly, I was attracted to the review opportunity. Now, I just want to read and not review. Also, I love the concept of online bookshelves. Big bonus points!

I read voraciously as a young child and throughout my life and then had a period of, shall we say, idiocy Too much twenty something indifference and partying and callousness. I am now in my thirties and reading again with a lust to learn and catch up on all the adventures that I have missed. My vocabulary has grown dormant, but I am learning it is still there yearning to break free. I seek to journal again and have even taken up classical music. Basically, I'm thirsting for knowledge and that is what led me here. I was just looking for fellowship and edification, not knowing of the other opportunities. I may or may not partake of said opportunities, but I'm happy if they help miss lonni and others. Congrats on the job too, that's awesome

Thank you both for sharing!! And thank you Escapeartist! I'm still in my twenties, but I can see how one in their twenties can easily lose themselves in other activities that pull them away from the adventures that lay waiting in the pages of books.

I love discussing books with other book lovers as well as and reading (& writing) reviews. This awesome site supplies both.

A friend told me about the site plus my love of reading

I went looking for someplace that I could get books in exchange for writing reviews. I know I can always write reviews, it's just getting expensive to keep up my reading habit. I used the library, free books, and amazon lending library but I'm finding that it's not adding enough new books to keep me going.

I wanted to look into reading a variety of books and want to be able to see what others say about them too.

We don't have book clubs here (People are not into reading) and so I thought "There must be an online book club!" and I was right!! I'm really glad I'm here! I never felt I belonged somewhere as much as I feel I belong here; where there are people who share my interest in reading and understand how it can be an important part of one's life. So LONG LIVE OBC!

I joined for my love of reading. I really enjoy sharing with others and this gives me the best of both worlds!! It is an amazing site to find great authors, books and friends!!!

I love to read might as well get paid for it so I googled get paid to read. As a single mom any extra cash also helps.

I honestly just wanted a place where I could talk about books with someone. Even though I have one friend who is a reader, and my mother is a reader also, we do not read the same type of books. The only series my friend and I have in common is Harry Potter. Other than that, we don't read the same type of books.
