I have hundreds if not thousands of paperback books that two deceased relatives collected from used book stores over many years. Places like Half Priced books have no use for them.

I too am a book lover, so I hate to see the books sold for scrap.

Does anybody know what some of the national pickup charities do with their books? I don't want to donate them to places like the Salvation Army or Goodwill if they are not going to at least try to sell them as books as opposed to selling to a scrap paper seller.

It also is not worth the effort or most of the books having value that is worth the time listing them book by book on places like Abebooks.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

The library, head start programs, local coffee shops and thrift and consignment stores. You can even ask neighbors if they have children and of course churches. You can also look up online the local Nonprofit organizations and the Red Cross and USO centers as they ship literature overseas.

What maryakusiak suggests are great selections. I donate my paperbacks to the local county jail for inmates to read.

I think we need to get a warehouse specifically for the users of this site.
