I grew up and now I live in a big city, but at some point I had to move to a small town. And all friends were asking me how can I live in a small city? Then it didn't seem like a relevant question, but now I guess that I will think twice before I will move in a small town again. What do you think about big city versus small city?

I personally prefer a small city that doesnt dwarf you completely into anonymity like London or no doubt New York would- a small city with enough amenities that you could share with your pals but not so big that you could get lost!

I was born in a big city and spent seven years there, then my family moved into a little town and my last destination is the capital of the country I went to enter university and decided to stay here.

In my neighbourhood are only small towns, so I truly regret of lack big city. There is only one cinema, a small libraries, small bookshops, and there is a lack of so many things, that I could mention it for infinity.

I really like medium cities. I grew up in a smaller town and there wasn't enough culture like museums, galleries, lectures, etc. to keep me engaged. However, I would not like to live somewhere like NYC because it is too big, not to mention the traffic!

Without culture life is fairly boring.

I live in the suburbs in New Jersey and I love it. We have parks and forests all over the place. I'm close enough to NYC that I can be there in 20 minutes during the winter I can drive 45 minutes and ski. Now we do have tons of traffic and it gets a bit annoying but what can one do besides move.

Interestingly enough a very good friend of mine moves to farm country, South Dakota and after a year of living there he and his family are moving back to New Jersey because he, and this is a quote "Is bored shitless and hates cows". During the night he claims to hear constant mooing and baaing.

I'm all about the big cities with culture. I want lots of museums and entertainment.

I want to be in big city for I love to party too apart of reading and roaming around late night at the park.

I've lived in both. Living in San Francisco was great. We had quick access to fantastic parks, zoos, museums, shopping, events... it truly is a lifestyle choice (and expensive) to live in the city. I didn't like the politics, the parking tickets, the parking garage fees, and the homeless problem.

In smaller cities I enjoyed the relative quiet, the access to great outdoor activities (hiking, mtn. biking, camping), knowing my way around. I didn't like the small gene pool of dating, sometimes bumping into people I didn't want to bump into... not much else to dislike.

They both have pros and cons like anyhting else.

I grew up in a tiny (pop. about 2300) town and I hated it. Now I live in a subdivision in a suburb of a medium-sized city. Most folks have too-much-money-not-enough-brainpower syndrome, but I love that I can take a walk around my neighborhood at night without worrying about being mugged/raped/kidnapped/forced to eat lutefisk. Which I would if I tried to do that in downtown Madison, despite what the magazines say.
Except for the lutefisk thing, of course. it doesn't matter where you are in WI, you always have to worry about lutefisk!

I currently live in a small town in WI and I absolutely hate it. All people do here is drink. Sometimes there are other activities that go along with drinking. But the alcohol just kind of ruins it for me. Not to mention, all of the people here grew up with all of the people here and aren't really interested it making new friends. I could've come from Mars for all they care.

I grew up in a big town near a big city. I miss that. There was plenty to do in my town, and if I wanted more, I could just drive to the city. Anything I wanted or needed was withing easy driving distance.

You summed up small-town WI pretty well. Wait till they get going on Ed Gein. I hope you're not stuck there indefinitely, or you may start to enjoy alcohol a lot more.
If you need a break, come on over. We don't drink much at my house...reality is already pretty unreal 'round here.
