Weird Drivers

Post by Mairin »

So I was inspired to do this topic from a discussion in one of the other forums.

What is the oddest thing you have seen someone do while they were driving?

Where do i start??

1. People not indicating on roundabouts, or just indicating as they are going around it and hence confusing everyone as to their intentions.

2. People (mostly women) who park their car in the middle of the road outside a school or creche and proceed to have a conversation with their passenger and to hell with any traffic behind them- they will have to just divert around them

3. People (again, mostly women) who park their car right up on a double yellow lined kerb to let their kids off into school instead of just letting them off in slow-moving traffic so as not to interrupt drivers around them. Thats the problem with many women drivers, they practically drive their kids right up to the desk instead of just leaving them to walk to class themselves.

4. People who tailgate you and then as they overtake they throw you an evil look as if to say "you are ruining my whole day by going at the speed limit".

5. People who drive really fast with their infant child on their lap in the front seat.

6. People driving whilst eating and drinking.

7. Kids of 12 or 13 robbing their parent's car and driving around town "for the laugh".

8. People fiddling with car stereos whilst driving and not realising that this lack of concentration is making their car veer off the road so all the traffic have to accommodate them and move in.

9. Old people of 90 who still drive like there are only a half dozen cars on the road just like when they first got their license......back in 1943.

10. People who leave other people off on the roundabout even when they have lots of space and time to move into it.

11. Parking on a yellow box with the hazard lights on outside an off-license.

I could go on and on but i fear high blood pressure will keep me from sleep tonight so i will let the other members contribute....for now!

Great topic by the way. :)

My god have I had that happen to me too many times!!! I swear to you on one particular day that happened to me 3 times in a row and I was easily going 5-10 over the speed limit anyway.... apparently that just wasn't fast enough for them.

The funniest thing I ever saw was a woman steering with her elbows while holding a phone to one ear and "hand talking" with the other.

Wow, thats not good.

As for the tailgating, its absolutely my number one pet hate. Whenever someone behinds me starts riding my bumper, i slow down to annoy them, especially if i know they cant overtake on the other side due to oncoming traffic. My theory is that if they hit me they are the ones who will have to shell out for my lovely new bumper, dont know what the law is where you are but here, 9 times out 10, if you crash into the back of a car, you are totally responsible. I know it sounds immature and responsible to annoy a tailgater but its the one habit i just wont tolerate.

I was in the car with my grandparents coming back from LA. and there was a guy in an old pick-up in front of us with a trailer and couldn't even see the people behind him. He turned on his blinker to change lanes to the left and didn't move so we waited a few minuets and he still didn't move! so my grandpa who was driving decided to pass.We passed on the left and when we got up to the drivers seat he flipped all of us in the car off. We did nothing wrong!!

That's ridiculous, haha, but people just want their way, especially when they're driving.

A gardening truck was turning in front of us going left, and the bed door fell off, haha, so they backed up and put it back on, but stopped in the opposite traffic lane!
And since we were in a huge truck we had gone around and nobody was in the correct turn lane, so the light skipped us up 4 times. so we just turned right, made a u-turn and went straight. Then we got a red light and our previous turn lane got the green!

Haha, Colombian drivers here are terrible, it's hilarious, no one has the right of way and pedestrians are fighting with drivers. People just cross in the street wherever, which is fine, but then you have to watch out for motorcycles if you do that cause those suckers will nail you!

A friend of mine was driving me to the centre when she put on her face a mask of a pig and started beeping to the other cars and the buses in order to notice her. I've never been in her car since then but it was very funny :)

How bizarre, but I bet it was pretty funny. Any reason why she chose a pig mask?

nope. She is very skinny. May be because she is mad :) Actually she is very untidy. It's like a battlefield in her home. This can be a reason too.
