Oh no's! D;

Post by laci_baby »

So.. sad news! :(
I finally got a hold of Dee and she told me she was having problems getting onto the site! Apparently forums isn't coming up at all for her! I've heard (well read...) that thats the reason other earlier members (Like sleepydumpling and knightss and so on..) havent been on in years. The site stopped coming up for them. I'm getting rather terrified of us losing our little clan of people! Hopefully the problem can be fixed soon. Anyone have any idea's about what's going on?
I was going to ask if anyone else was having this problem... but that would be rather pointless.
So here goes: "Everyone that's not here raise your hand!"

Wow, i was wondering where our little street fighter had gone to, not like her at all not to visit every few days. Where did you read this info, Laci? I certainly have had no problems with the site ever, the only odd thing i noticed was a few of Fascists' posts being reduced in number, and it would be a big pity if we are losing members through this fault. So as Laci says, for all the regular members that we have can you please state if you have ever had problems with accessing the site, and we will try get a clear picture as to what the problem is, and both Laci and I will do all we can to rectify it.

You asked where i read it , Mike?:
I'm a total creeper and stalked Sleepydumpling (trying to find a moderator during our moderatorless months) until i saw that she not only had a myspace ( which i contacted with no response) and Shelfari. I searched for her under the same name on Shelfari, and after finding her i saw that on her wall Allie and a few of the other 'oldies" had announced that they could no longer gain access to the forums. If they could.. their passwords wasn't working. I'm only guessing the same thing happened to the rest of them since they all disappeared around the same time. Because actually... i think it makes more sense why a lot of the people aren't on anymore. It's not that they forgot. They just can't.
I've been anticipating when/if it would happen again and apparently it has to our poor Fascist. It was one of the questions i wanted to ask Scott about upon his return, but seeing as he's busy I haven't heard anything about it yet. So hopefully we'll find a solution soon.

I'm actually really concerned with this. If it wasn't for Dee and I actually conversing outside of the forum we may never have known. I'm going to put a link up to my facebook so if anyone, for any reason, is having problems they can contact me. I dont want to lose anyone either, Mairin. So if anyone has any problems WHATS SO EVER contact me. Maybe if you have a facebook add me just in case. (Just let me know who you are... i dont add strangers and i don't want to end up with spamming perv's  ). Or if you dont want to add me ( you snooty people  ) I made it easy to remember. (Atleast i hope i did?)

REMEMBER! The URL's the same as my name here, only it's baby with an i which should be easy seeing as my name ends with an i, and there's a period instead of an underscore.

Wow laci_baby I'm mighty impressed with you ... our very own little Charlie's Angel .... super sleuth!

No problems here & I log in both from work & home.

That would be very distressing if we are cut off from old friends because of a technical hitch ..... Laci you go get that gremlin wherever he's hiding & zap him.

Great work, Sherlock! Actually now that you mention it, I did notice that "Awalker" was a mod here for the first few weeks i was here but one day she just vanished and there has been no word from her since, I also vaguely recall some old posts from sleepydumpling who was a very active member. Seems odd that they would just up and leave like that, i know people come and go here but I assumed they had enough of the place because it was Scott who sent out a link asking for new mods that time so i thought we were just replacing numbers, to be honest. If they were having problems with access, i would imagine Scott was contacted some way or another, as he does have a public website and about 10 other forums to moderate, which explains why he is almost never here. Strange that they couldnt log on, i wonder is it a regional thing where the forum simply stopped being accessible in certain places or something like a bug or virus caught hold, hard to know really.

Hey this place needs Fascist, she is a big ball of hyperactive energy and very funny, its hard to picture the place without her, have you been in touch recently then Laci about logging on? Cant she set up a new email address and re-register again and start over, maybe the username and email have gone wrong? If she cant even log on to the forums, what is she getting instead- an error message? Thats quite worrying as there are only a handful of regular members here but quite a few up and coming people and the place is as busy now as it seems to be back in its peak and thats always a good thing. I will PM Scott about this but being realistic he probably wont reply for weeks

All i can think of is for people here to let us know if you have ANY technical problems at all, just a quick post here will do the trick, and we can advise how to sort it out. To be frank with you, my abilities are probably no better than the next guy when it comes to computers and faults so i cant promise to fix the problem but i will do everything i can ( I have a mate who is a computer whizz! ) to help and will contact Scott several times about this issue and fingers crossed we may get some feedback. Now that this has come to light, a few members like Ducky (remember him) have also vanished just when it looked like they were finding their groove so i wonder is it related. Or else Carusmm left a big virus-filled leaving present!

Laci, i dont have Facebook but i have saved your link in the event of meltdown so i may set up an account to keep in touch, and i urge others to do the same, but hey i hate even saying that, lets just see what happens here, im sure this place will be here for ages to come. Hmm, im going to try and get to the bottom of this, keep on rocking people....

Mike ... I just thought '1984' - could Big Brother be watching & have we been classed as subversive?

The thought police are on to us, Fran, I always felt a bit....watched in this place. Scott even looks a tad like the Big Brother police, it seems we are going to have to go underground and take this forum to the first floor of a quaint little antique shop eh  Dont do it Scott!

So, is it a software glitch that's causing some to not be able to log in or otherwise access the forum? If so, then it is strange; I've never known this to happen on any other phpBB board I've been a member of. I do hope that it's not a virus or somesuch that's been injected.

In any event, if the US government is monitoring this forum, then someone really has nothing better to do. I can think of several other venues that would probably be more deserving of scrutiny. :?

Fran- Well thank you dear, i do try.
As for that little Gremlin glitch... i'm still looking for it... but i'm on to it. haha

Mike-I know! It's surprising how much you can learn when your a creeper. :D
I too found it odd that our all of the moderators, and everyone from the beginning, had disapeared. Therefore leads to snooping, which in this case, was apparently a good idea for future idea's. Hopefully we can figure something out. No, it's not sign in problems... it's like the site disapeared. Dee said it's not coming up at all. Something pop's up talking about how cool Scott is and that's all. It's not recognizing the address. I've had problems getting on the forums before but after a few failed try's i googled "STINKING FASCIST" and, being the genius site that it is, brought up the index home for the forums and tada i was back. I had Dee do this but it's still not working for her. We came up with a masterplan that i would tell her what everyone's saying and she would reply and i, having access to her account here, would go under as her ( everyone knowing... of course.) and her talk this way. She doesn't want to lose this site anymore than we want to lose her so this way she'll still get to participate, through me, only she can't talk to me or i would be talking to myself. Did that make sense? I dont think it was Carusmm, but it may have been. I can't help but wonder if it's the reason Coldfire has left us as well? I'm not sure of what's going on, but if anyone could fix it... we could.
Agreed. I think it would be smart for all of us to have some way of contacting atleast someone on here, just in case. If something did happen... atleast someone would be able to come back and tell everyone else what was going on, like with Dee. So if you do set up an account be sure to add me.

Mairin- I haven't gotten your request yet but once it pop's up i'll be sure to add you. If it hasn't come up in a few days i would try again. Daria is amazing... i had to. I'm actually pondering if i should download the series or not. It's pretty tempting... :D

Lonely- I'm not sure what it is... but i have seen this before. I was on another lierature site (before this one, of course) and after only a week it disapeared but the other day i found it again. I'm too much in love with this one ( and the people here...) to actually go back to it though. I assume it just happens? I dont know. But we're not the only one it happens to. I'm only wondering if maybe Dee's computer got a virus from this site that's blocking her from it? I 've had this happen as well. If Scott has an Anti-virus system set up and she has a virus... it may not let her. But as i said.. i dont know.

Thats a good idea about the anti-virus maybe blocking the forum from Dee, tell her to run a firewall scan to see if she is clean. Its a strange one, the access thing. And Coldfire hasnt been around in a few weeks but that could be because he found another young girl, . Seriously though, there are quite a few members who havent been around lately so maybe its a compatibility issue where someone updates their software, anti-virus etc on their computer and it doesnt allow them access to this forum. I have contacted Scott twice about this so we may get an answer soon. Other than that i am baffled as to whats causing this, I think only Scott can shed light here so if you are reading buddy get in touch because we dont want to lose touch with anyone here.

@Lonestar, yeah, on the list of "people of national interest" i reckon all of us here are somewhere along the road to the bottom of the bottom of the list!

Laci, great job with trying to keep in touch with everyone, i have saved Dees details so if this thing is permanent (and i pray its not) i will throw here a few messages.

I agree Mike. Hopefully Scotty will join our confusion soon and give us a solution. Until then Dee will just have to go through me (as odd as that sounds...).

I'm trying to keep up with everyone, Mike. And though i hope we dont lose anyone, I hope i dont go next.
Then i would be screwed....
