what are your opinions on tattoos? just a little rant i'm fed up of being judged by people for having tattoos

And what tattoos do you have?

If people judge and say you should treat your body as a temple as God intended then I'm going to dang well decorate my temple because we all know that the temples they had back then (and now) for worship were decorated.

I think no matter what it is you get tattooed, so long as it's of true significance to you then go for it. 'cause if you're not happy with it, guess who's stuck with it and paying for laser removal...

I myself am a tattoo person, no judging here haha.

my entire family have tattoos, my mom also however she is the worst for judging me, although after i got the anchor tattooed on my arm she kinda stop trying haha. I just dont see why people should be judged on tattoos and piercing, especially when it comes to jobs, all the jobs i have had i have been told that i am a fantastic worker and i have always had tattoos and piercings. However i've been looking for a new job and finding it really hard.

Yeah I think being discriminated against for having tattoos and/or piercings sucks, but it's sort of understandable.
But I really do think that efficiency and attitude matter more than look.

Tattoos and piercings are becoming more and more commonplace. It seems like these days EVERYBODY has one. People are starting to figure out that it's no longer just the "ruffians" with the tattoos. I think in the next decade or so, there will no longer be a prejudice against them. But these things take time.

I have four tattoos, and I've never been discriminated against for them. But, they're all small and easily hidden. The most visible one is a pink breast cancer ribbon, that one only gets compliments.

I never really got tattoos and i dont understand their appeal to be honest. They can look nice on some people but to me they are a bit of a cliche, just like going for the punk look or the biker gang wearing the leather gear and the mustaches. Its a very conformist way of rebelling and doesnt really make you stick out as much these days as perhaps when they first became popular. To wear them in order to portray an image of yourself to the world seems a bit insecure in my honest opinion. If you wear them for fun then the best of luck to you but i dont really dig them.

I have a small tattoo on my right shoulder, only problem with it is I forget I have it and then think a giant spider is crawling on my shoulder when in the shower!!

That sounds like something I'd do. Think it's a spider, I mean. I worked in a tattoo shop a few years back, and months of listening to "ouch! ouch! [expletive], that [expletive] needle/brand/knife [expletive] hurts, [expletive]!" kinda put me off the whole idea.
But! I don't think tattoos, piercings, etc. have anything to do with a person's character or intelligence. Except! A word spelled backwards on someone's cheek. I actually saw that once.

i have quite a few tattoos and everyone of them mean something to me, people who get tattoos to look tough or try and fit in are poitless, a tattoo is there for life and should be thought through and not just done for the hell of it. My brother has quite a few drunken tattoos. you should never have regrets about getting a tattoo. I have an anchor tattooed on my arm for my uncle who was in the navy, i have been laughed at for it before now, i think its very rude to judge someone by tattoos before you know the meaning for them.

I'm not a big fan of tattoos; and I think people like to convince themselves of things to avoid contrition. I believe tattoos to be a good example. Any tattoo before the age of 40 is probably a huge mistake.

Tattoos are good I have two and am working on the money for a third. When asked why I've got the tattoos I have I tell the people honestly that it brings me closer to my spirituality and strengthens myself. I have a Ohm on my right wrist and the mantra "Ohm mani padme hum" written in Tibetan down my left forearm. My next tat is going to be of Ch'i-t'zu more commonly know as the laughing Buddha.

TC you made the statement that you are tired of being judged for your tattoos why does that bother you. If anything you should look at it as an opportunity to dispel such misplaced feelings. A good friend of mine looks quite scary. He's tall, over 6'5" a bit huge in the waist and covered with some dark tattoos, dark meaning skulls, bats, etc. This guy, Lenny, would give his heart to a stranger if it would help them. He makes it a point that when he feels as if someone is looking down on him for his tattoos to start up a friendly conversation. It's something that has always amazed me I just can't talk to people like that

I would get one but I can't think of anything I would like to keep permanently. I do like the Japanese style tattoos of coy fish, samurai, and whatnot.

I have to completely disagree. I was 20 when I got my tattoo and I have had no regrets and I surely don't feel guilty about getting it. I think you are making a generalization that may not apply to some people.

You can tell a little about a person buy the kind of tattoos they get as well.

Of course it's a generalization that may not apply to some people. Though, as I also stated, a lot of people convince themselves of falsities to avoid regret.
