Exercise

I've dabbled into exercising for most of my life, but have never really been committed to it until recently. I was usually just the scrawny book worm. But I must say, whenever I get a exercise routine going, my mental and physical health always improve drastically. I think it's just about having the routine that makes it important. Though the actual muscle mass is pretty nice. But sadly I don't belong to a gym and have very little at home, so I make due with what I have. I am happy with my progress but hope to improve.
So I thought we could discuss other peoples relationship with exercise and any tips or pros and cons. Such as your significant others response (that's a pro)

I'm a walker and preferably alone as I like to dictate my own pace and I always have the MP3 player with either the radio or an audio book for company ... can get some funny looks though especially if you start to laugh at something & others aren't aware of the earphones!
I walk 4-5 days a week for a minimum of an hour but more usually two hours and I think it is the best thing in the world for your mental health (and of course physical health)... and it absolutely free!
I really cherish not just the physical exercise but also the time alone to commune with myself & creation. I am fortunate in that I live in the countryside so I have a choice of rural walks or for variety I can walk the beach & cliffs.
My OH would be more into the gym & that sort of boring stuff ... he also likes his team sports. Vive la différence

I play tennis twice a week for at least an hour and also compete in tennis leagues throughout the summer so ill be playing a lot in the next few months. I like to walk to work at least twice a week, but i really could walk everyday as its only 15mins away but some mornings i cant be bothered as im tired or just not up for it. But twice a week is better than nothing. I used to be a member of a gym but gave that up as i just didnt use it enough to justify the cost

I used to walk about a kilometer to the beach a couple times a week but my knees are bad and I cant walk that far any more. But I can walk to a friends house every morning for coffee and a BS session, its only about 2 blocks from where I live. Its not much but its enough for an old decripet guy like me. Even that little bit makes me feel better,

Oh, I used to walk 20 miles for no particular reason in no particular direction, and I would cherish every moment of it. I don't know what it was, considering I don't do it anymore, but every single day for almost a year I would just walk for walkings sake. I probably looked homeless to onlookers, looking back.
But, as I said, I don't do this anymore. I'm more of a biker now. I love biking. It's probably one of my most favorite things to do. I feel so free on a bike, and see it as an extension of my body while riding. It's a feeling I can't describe.

I started jogging this week and I agree that there are improvements not only in my body but also in my mind. However, this past few days, my progress plummeted.
First, I have no partner to jog since my father is now working full time in his job, that made the whole experience boring. I invited a friend but still he won't. He said it is exhausting. Second, my MP3 headphones, unfortunately, didn't survived my abused.
I want to do alternative and the first is biking. But our bike was given away by my father since we don't use it anymore and there are persons who gravely need it. As you may recommend, I can play other sports but it would be boring. I don't have someone to play with. <_<

I'm used to go to gym for exercise daily. I know that it is an useful and effective exercise to maintain my health and body fitness.

I used to have a very serious relationship with volleyball. Then i injured my finger and that was it. I spent five years doing nothing, and i gained weight drastically (i wasn't actually fat, but since i was very slim while playing volleyball, i've grown a belly and lost muscle and gained fat so... i've been playing rugby for some time now. Lost a lot of fat in the process, started cooking for myself so i'm trying to maintain a low-carb + high protein diet for gaining muscle mass, which is working quite OK for now.

I love volley ball and soccer or footbal, whatever you want to call it.
Go out for walks daily, weather permitting. No car so we walk everywhere we go.
I also have a very mild mommy and me pilates routine. It's great.
I agree I always feel my best after any exercise. Of course I find I always eat more afterwards. I had to stop getting Nutella because I'd always grab a spoonful

I used to play a lot of basketball. As a student I walked a lot, in no particular direction, just wandering around.
