Does anyone know how to become a journalist or columnists?
I am a copy aid at the newspaper but want to have a better more fulfilling job.
Thanks!

In order to become a journalist or a columist you need a college degree

Well, as a journalist in training I'd have to agree with Moore. These days it really is a prerequisite. But being a columnist, now that's a position few get a chance to fill. I wish you all the luck, but it's tough as hell, and your writing skills have to be top notch. I wonder what your native language is, Kchirgwi?

Well, I have a college degree, in General Science. My native language is English.
Would I have to go back to school for a degree in Journalism?
Or is there a shorter program, certificate or something?

I believe your chances will be much higher when you have a degree in Journalism or perhaps Communication. Something like that. At least, that's what the situation is here in Belgium. In England/America?, I really don't know.

I think that yo can be a journalist or a columist in spite of your education. I mean that you can collect information and arrange your personal investigation and it would be better than to do everything your boss told you.

What about being apart of the layout team? Or editing, copy editing?
And how would you make money? - to andr70
